Re: braking performance. In my constant tinkering and endless quest for improvement the next step will be EBC HH pads - we'll see if that makes any significant change.
Beringer makes a VERY EXPENSIVE bolt-on upgrade, IMO tough to justify.

An interesting theory has surfaced about the rear brake problems I and others were having with our 650s, and as it turns out on some of the 411 Himalayans.
There may have been a bad batch of rear brake lamp switches that were allowing minute amounts of air into the system over time.

IF the screw mounting holes are 33mm apart (which I think they are) just get a manual petcock from a Yamaha Banshee ATV (see: Amazon or Winner's Circle), plug off the vacuum hose and remember to turn it on and off. They run about $50, problem solved forever. Same for DRZ400 and KLR650.
If you get stopped for a modified exhaust, ask the cops if they have a sound meter and know how to use it.
Bylaw 2024.EC9.5 - Stationary limits for motor vehicles and motorcycles of 92dB(A) at idle and 96dB(A) any speed greater than idle, measured 50cm from the exhaust.
What about buried or folding plates ?
The drum brake inspection requirement demands removal and measurement - that's going to take time.
Before, the inspecting mechanic could use simple common sense and good judgement, now you can't.
The new process is more stringent and time consuming no question. Lotsa pictures to be taken for the guv to be happy. For motos things like turn signal spacing (minimum width from centre), drum brake condition, licence plate positioning - things that could be let slide before won't pass now...
I was working in an H-D dealership at that time.
EVERY single Sportster that came in the door had to be disassembled and the oil pump repaired.
Sabotaged at the factory...
IF I was looking for a Harley the first place I'd go would be Classy Chassis in Lakefield. They aren't an official dealer but they always have a bunch of top quality used stuff. Josh and his staff don't cop attitudes, they do everything they can to get it done right. I try to get up there at...
