They will eat sun flower seeds too. Seems to go in waves. They are not touching the plants this year so far but last year they trimmed a few. Saw them snacking on dried up oak leaves that blew in from the neighbour’s tree.
The wrap should discourage them.
I picked up a modular Shark helmet a few years ago at the show. It was in a Yamaha booth, forget the dealer but was a bargain at $200. I prefer to go Friday later afternoon/evening with the smaller crowds and time to look around.
