Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Excessive tint also hides things like phone use when driving, drinking while driving, etc. It also impedes the driver's ability to see OUT of the side windows at night. I have no problem with it being enforced. Take some cops off of endless speed traps and enforce some other moving violations...

    How`s your house pricing doing?..

For reno costs we know material prices are up but many have come down from the COVID peaks. Contractor labour can be a killer these days. Labour shortages with all the building and renos going on made it a sellers market. While there is a segment that are still renovating in volume there will...

    Cutting 6mm aluminum plate

Yes it is kind of a stupid design as they could have changed the "speed hole" locations to better accommodate service. Cutting a for clearance will weaken the plate as the plate above it will be a lot narrower, but unless you actually use it as a skid plate (hit it hard) I doubt it will matter...

    Cutting 6mm aluminum plate

Aluminum is pretty easy to cut, no overly fancy tools are required. Maybe give us a pick of the spot... For best results, once you mark up where to cut remove the plate before cutting. Drilling small holes and connecting them is likely the worst method. Your cleanest method could be a simple...

Has the city lost it's mind...

As I understand it the land is vested in the province today and there will be some high level work to change the act, trusts, etc... There will be some legal costs but the individual leases per house that are getting broken are to the benefit of the current lease holder as they are buying the...

Has the city lost it's mind...

I agree, I want to break as many of these leases as possible yet also have a cash win fall. We need to find a sweet spot what people can swing, $1.5M is just a talking point number. Some of these houses are quite nice others not so much. More money means more win fall for the gov but maybe less...

Has the city lost it's mind...

I think you misunderstood what I am proposing... When I say buy the property I mean the land, not just the house. Subdivide it up and when they buy they buy, no more lease for that land/lot/property the house is on, they now own it, it is just another house on an owned lot in Toronto. It...

Has the city lost it's mind...

He needs to dump the rubble from his 401 tunnel fiasco somewhere.... As for the islanders... I still think my solution is the best one: -Offer them a one time deal to get out of the lease and to buy the properties they live in, maybe $1.5M per house, maybe more... -Those that don't want the...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Buddy has a seven year old Leaf, the battery has gone in the crapper. It will be covered under the eight year warranty, when they get a replacement battery... they say when may be a while.

    How`s your house pricing doing?..

I did 120v AFCI for the entire house other than the fridge, smoke alarms, and boiler... No issues with nuisance trips, years and years on. No trips for the everyday stuff, my power tools, old table saw, ancient mower, not even my 120v welder. Square D QO... The key, use the screws on the devices...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

The quality of the labour is also commonly inversely proportional to demand. When the renovation/building industry has more work than capacity they tend to slap in warm bodies, specially at the lower end of the skill set tasks like siding, etc. If things are slow, most will keep their good guys...

    How`s your house pricing doing?..

They could have had financing problems or second thoughts and used it as a tactic. I have seen that before. There are a bunch of shifty DIY replacements where just visible wires are done, a check to see if there was an ESA notification (permit) is a good step.

F@ck Uber and the car they rode in on

Just some random experiences... We came home to find a food delivery on our doorstep, just some odd insight to us on how these things work... except we did not order anything. We decided to do the right thing, mostly because we just came home from a big dinner and we were not hungry for free...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Yes that may work. I also like the epoxy sticks for this type of repair as they add material. The ones where you cut off a piece and kneed it. I would also drill two very small holes at the very ends of the crack before the repair, to stop it from propagating. Likely overkill as I doubt it is...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

You could try some two part epoxy but first test to see if it will stick to the plastic... Paint it white afterwards.
