The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

How so? If you mean to get a tow, I'd be using CAA with the money saved, or calling a bike-specific service like @adri
If there is a crash, tow truck shows up. You may not be in a position to tell them to f off. Once your bike is on the hook, bill can be thousands in hours. The old trick of signing the ownership to settle the bill is over, they will send your bill to collections in a heartbeat. Storage clock is also ticking at hundreds per day so you don't have time to work out options.

I doubt insurance companies are paying that bill even if you do have the coverage, so how do they handle it? In any case I believe that is covered as long as you're not deemed to be at fault, or have a rider on the policy for emergency towing. Plus that's yet another good reason not to be at fault.

How does that change when insurance pays for the tow and storage? Insurers are notoriously cheap for paying out on tow and car rentals.
Insurers have power, precident and lawyers. They tell the tow company to F off, they are getting paid X or they will feel the weight of a huge company leaning on a tiny one. It's easier for everyone if tow company accepts.
