Hey everyone. We tried, it failed. The Politics Forum is no longer. There are hundreds of places on the internet for you to have these types of discussions and it's been deemed that GTAMotorcycle is not one of them.

For those that are upset about this decision, I'm sorry, but I've had just about enough of the PM's and emails. This is a motorcycle site and it's about riders helping riders, so lets get back to that!

For me, this forum was always more than just a place to talk about motorcycles. The motorcycle stuff is obviously what brought us here — the bikes, the routes, the rides, the mechanical discussions and everything that goes along with them.

But I always thought the community side of the forum was what made it a destination.

During the day, when we’re riding, we focus on, roads, skills, mechanicals, destinations etc. But when the bikes are parked and everyone is sitting around the campfire, the conversation naturally becomes about life — politics, work, housing, gardening, and whatever else happens to come up.

That community element is a big part of what kept me coming back, and I’ve enjoyed being an active participant.

With a vibrant part of the forum closed, GTAM won’t be quite the same destination for me, so I’m stepping away for now.

I trust GTAM will thrive as a place for people who want to talk motorcycles, riding and everything that goes along with it, but for now I’m gonna head off to explore some new destinations.

Maybe I’ll see you down the road!

The community aspect is part of why regulars come here but a few posters made it toxic calling anyone who didn't agree with them cult members etc. I know some members left because of that.

That’s a double edged sword. Just sayin

Thank you for this. I truly enjoy this site but often thought of leaving as divisive politics seemed to infiltrate everything.

Guess I'll be visiting a lot less. People can just opt out, but we can't opt in. Oh well...

lol, that forum did nothing to build community, all it did was divide and pit members against each other. If you're leaving because you miss that, then I'm stunned. There are so many more forums to have exactly the types of discussion you mentioned, so not sure what all the fuss is about.

It was a choice to read those threads.. it was a choice to participate in them. If folks didn’t want to be a part of those threads… then just don’t click on them. I don’t understand choosing to read something.. knowing full well what it’s about.. and that it might get a little heated... and then complain about it.

It wasn't the content of the forum that put me off. I can understand and mostly agree with many of the opinions offered. It was that there wasn't ANY room for discussion or dissection of a point, coupled with snarky, demeaning and disrespectful partisan responses the forum became an echo chamber.

It was far from a place that encouraged or contributed to a sense of community or encouraged discussion or engagement and more resembled a raging tire fire than a camp fire.

Even oil threads never brought that out.
