I think we need to get over the idea that execution has to be "humane", as in peaceful and painless.
Firing squad or noose... take your pick.
Sure, these methods might hurt for a moment, but... they're effective and less expensive than pretty much every other method.
Inhumane gets them in tons of hot water in courts. No matter how awful someone is, knowingly torturing them is not a bar that should be crossed. That being said, hanging and firing squad are reasonably fast and humane and still allowed in some states. The bar has never been instant lights out, it is just reasonably fast and with minimal suffering.

It`s sad that when the murderer is facing the needle, the victim is forgotten. Once again it becomes a myriad of excuses for why the killer did it. Colleen Slemmer was lured, tortured and murdered. She was beaten, stabbed, had a pentagram carved in her chest, head smashed with a brick. And the little princess Pike kept a piece of her skull in her pocket as a "trophy". Pike`s boyfriend, Tadaryl Shipp 17, who was fascinated with Satanism, was also involved while another woman, Shadolla Peterson 18, served as a lookout for anyone. Shipp remains in prison until at least 2030 and Peterson, who cooperated with the investigation was released and rebuilt her life in anonymity. Anyone who brings violence or death to innocents, or who helps in doing so, should forfeit their life. F**k Pike and those other two subhumans, there isn`t a death agonizing enough for them. 🖕 🖕

Nice. Finally a court that didn't use blue glasses. If you suck at guns, you can't touch them. Courts shouldn't care who your employer is or the consequences of your actions.
Not so sure. SHE was charged with improper storage. They mentioned that HE owns 9 personal firearms, so who was storing what?

From the judge "Both defendants should not use or possess firearms and not have the exclusion for employment". Not sure how the charges were decided.
DA's office charges. They could obviously be altered at any time prior to going to trial but charging her for what sounds like his firearms sounds wrong. Charging her with child neglect and him with improper storage makes more sense, to me. Perhaps a gun charge automatically ends his career, in Michigan?

They just released another wrongfully convicted inmate from death row. How many more are there.. and how many have already been put down?
May be they should worry about botched court cases before they continue with botching the executions!
David Milgaard and Guy Paul Moran come to mind here. Both were framed to cover up police incompetence. There are more.

Were any police officials charged?

Did compensation come from the perpetrators or the tax payers? Cynical font.

A couple of years ago I had two operations that began with me being wheeled into an OR. The anethesiest asked me to count backwards from ten but I passed out at five.

I woke up some time later in a different room feeling no pain. If it was to be an execution instead of a bit of tissue removal would I have felt anything? To my knowledge no one has come back from the experience and given first hand testimony. Dying in one's sleep is as good as it gets.

For the loved ones left behind in a murder, Try to show the compassion that was denied to your loved one. Hate is letting someone live rent free in your brain.

A person that works in a correctional facility for the extremely violent would see things differently.
Perhaps, but how a society deals with criminals says more about the society, than it does the criminals.

If the killer is executed the finality puts an end to it and the victims loved ones can compartmentalize the event and move on. Compassion for a psychopath is nothing more than a tertiary option. NO ONE should be told/coerced/browbeaten into thinking they should do it. If they decide it will help them move on or think their invisible sky daddy is going to like them more if they do, well, that's on them.

The expense of being humane is a pittance compared to the expense of housing someone, for years/decades, prior to the act. No reason not to be humane.

The legal costs are the majority of expenses in death penalty cases. It’s cheaper to house someone for a life sentence than it is to sentence them to death and carry it out… a lot cheaper.

I have no doubt. for me, there are vanishingly few cases in which the death penalty is warranted. When you have a serial killer who there is zero doubt about, spike him. Some evil prick who whips out a gun every time that someone "disses" him, and executes the offender, put him against a wall and give him the same treatment. Serial rapists? Slide them down a 20 foot razor lade, balls first, into a vat of salt water and let them bleed out.

Canada does not have the death penalty.

So remember that we are all talking about the justice system of a country that won't even name (let alone charge) an (alleged) island (allegedly) full of (alleged) sex trafficking (alleged) child rapists.

-- he says putting himself on a watchlist.

Yup. the death penalty for treason and mutiny were was removed in 1998. That was the last to go.

While we`re on the topic... and for some home grown and motorcycle content, ever read Conspiracy of Brothers? On October 18th in `78 a small town biker is executed in a Port Hope bar while several Satan`s Choice members are there. A 446 page, great read by Mick Lowe. "A shocking true story of murder, bikers, justice.. and in justice". It was guilt by association, unreliable eyewitness testimony, suppression of evidence, and disturbingly irregular police procedures. Six bikers sentenced to ninety years in prison but mysteries remain and questions are still unanswered, including who really killed Bill Matiyek? And why? Highly recommended read. EDIT:....that case is the subject of a 1990, I think, Steve Earle song.. titled "Justice in Ontario"

You'd be surprised... I spent 35 years inside and deslt with some monsters.
There are cases where the offender absolutely should be "put down", but as others have posted... Our judicial system is flawed and errors happen, as do outright conspiracies....The Moran and Milgard cases.

I'd be happy with "life" meaning "life" and not 25 years...
There are some offenders who will never be let loose... Those designated as "dangerous offenders", but the bar to getting designated as such is so high... it doesnt happen often.
Last I looked there were only about 700.
Keep in mind some have been incarcerated for decades already so... 700 ain't much.
