Paris was the dirtiest city I’ve been to, but that was 40+ years ago. We’re doing a river cruise to Germany. Been on lots of ocean ones, but never a river. The last time we tried to go to Egypt, there was an insurrection, so I doubt we’ll get there this lifetime.
The American river cruises look interesting, but wow are they pricey . They seemed geared to people that have money but not enough for travel insurance abroad .

We’ve been invited on a canal cruise in England. We call them canal boats ( they call them long boats ) , five hp diesel single cyl engine and they top out at three kms an hour , which I understand is plenty fast enough. Four of us , pub to pub cruise . This should be comical.
Those things are great. There’s a huge amount of canal infrastructure left over from the big industry days of the UK and tons of canal side pubs etc. Very relaxing. I remember steering one as a kid. The canal paths make great hikes too.

A massive sinkhole has developed in a canal in the English county of Shropshire, trapping two boats in deep mud and prompting emergency services to declare a “major incident.”
My inlaws went on a river cruise several years ago.
They showed up in Europe but the rivers were too high. It turned into a bus tour.
I can think of nothing worse than a bus tour.
