TPMS on snow tires?

I got a deal of $800 for good winters with steel rims for a second car and skipped tpms sensors as they wanted another $250 for the set. Every time I drive it I have to "OK" that error message off the main screen then I'm still stuck with a bright orange trouble light which is uber annoying at night.
When they're warn I'll be getting sensors with the new tires. Just get them is my recommendation.

I used that kinda` setup on my cars waaaay back. Long before any safety nannies and the bombardment of technof***ery on vehicles now. What`s your take on the rim/tire difference affecting the speedo, ABS, stability and on and on?
It shouldn’t impact your speedo if you maintain tire circumference. A decent tire shop will figure that out for you, a great one would recommend that when you buy new snows and rims.

Users can do it themselves on most 2005 and on Stellantis (Dodge, Jeep, Ram). Harder, but still user doable on Ford trucks, Tesla (limited to approved sizes). GM, Toyota, Subaru and VW can be done DiY with an OBD programmer. Most other brands require dealer to do this.

Is it nesessary to have TPMS on snow tires. I don't want to spend money on them!
They cost $<30 for a set of 4. If you have a late model US brand car, it can be done DIY with a $10 obd dongle and an app on your phone.

If you’re not savvy with that stuff, $200 or so at a tire shop.

I also have used this special tool to correct the tpms light on the dash. Cheap, and comes in different colours to fit your fancy. 👌But my favorite tool is a piece of yellowish sticky note colored with black marker.
