Got a GoPro?

If i were you i'd consider the alternatives.

Coming from a guy who has gopro(s), and dji osmo action cams.

Depending on your use case if youre set on gopro, the 11 does almost everything the newest one does

The 360 cams provide "always" the right framing so that's something to consider (akaso makes a 360 cam...quality does suffer but you get what you pay for)

Thanks. The helmet mounts for skydiving are almost exclusively made safe for GoPro.

I have a bag of dead ones. Never again.

I have a bag of hammers too, at least I can use them.

Most of the action cameras use the GoPro mounting system, they are pretty much standard.

1/4"-20 camera mount to GoPro base doesn't exis..........

Huh I'm not sure what you are saying here?
Plus I would not use a 1/8th or 1/4 screw based mount with some kind of action camera. The risk of it loosening is too great.

20+ years ago GoPro were the new kids in town. There was no standard, and some of the legacy players used the tried and true method to mount their versions of sport cameras.

Lol 20 years ago, I don't think GoPro was around then, that's like ancient times for tech.
Screw type mounts are good for stationary camera gear, and it's not surprising it was used, as it's a standard of it's own.
But thankfully GoPro had the forethought to improve the mount for this kind of application.

GoPro came out with V1 in 2002. Still have mine. The Zi6 shot in 1080, worked fine behind a fairing, and was far cheaper.

I've got a Hero 10 Black I bought new in Aug2023 ... use it on the bike only.

Been thinking of going to the new DJI Osmo 6 just so I can use their wireless mics ... have no idea what the GoPro is worth on the used market without looking.

Looked at a few fbmp units. No thanks. Asked to turn it on... Sorry, the battery is dead. Another one, couldn't find the battery. Bought a 13 boxing day sale. It'll be great to evaluate skydives and canopy flights.

Where are you looking for these?
Maybe just pick one up at Costco, great return policy if you don't like it.

They supposedly have gotten better and more reliable but they got a pretty bad rep over the years...In terms of image science, they are better except when it comes to any low light situation, which wont be your use case.

Hope it ends up working (all the time) for you

Burnaby Skydive tandem instructors and videographers use them all summer long. They take a beating. There are a few in the surrounding fields.
