Alberta has formally prepared a plan to ban the ban for federal gun buyback on tbe stance gun ownership is a provincial law and the federal plan violates the rights of Albertans to arm themselves .
The federal plan is unraveling slowly . If I had to guess the feds are trying to figure out how to get out of this mess without looking like idiots . Again.
There is an easy way out.
Status quo.
If they just stopped here and left in place what they've done they will have effectively accomplished what they set out to do.
All us law abiding gun owners will store for free all the guns they prohibited.
As we die off they can collect them... for free.
They've done this before...
There are thousands of guns previously prohibited through OIC sitting in gun safes all over the country....
Funny though... they only talk now about confiscating the recently prohibited guns...
I have to hand in my .223 AR15, but I can still keep my 7.62mm FNC1..?
And the FN is actually a military weapon...
It would have been easy for Carney to drop it as a crazy jt idea. Sadly it's a core part of carneys playbook. To gain complete control, citizens must be unarmed.
I am a shooter as well. Member at BRRC, and HGC. I enjoy shooting sporting clays, shooting pistols and 3D bow.
I have a couple of guns that are tied up with the Liberal gun confiscation (Ruger AR, Beretta Storm and a couple others) - crazy we are even doing through this but Liberals do what Liberals do. More concerned about virtue signaling and perception that they are doing something to reduce gun crime without actually reducing gun crime.
Summers I enjoy 3D shooting tournaments, & sporting clays and fall/winter deer hunting with compound and my Excalibur when it get really cold. I do most of my pistol/rifle shooting during the winter after bow season ends.

All Carney really has to do is shut this down and replace it with something that targets the crime and risk evaluations made by suburban Canadians. The majority of Canadians are not gun owners, they are scared by what they see in the USA and the increasing gun violence in our cities. The easy appeasement from politicians is to say -- OK no nore guns. It's a lot harder to say we're going reduce gun crime by criminals.
To me, there’s a big knowledge gap among most Canadians who don’t own firearms but constantly see news about shootings in our cities. There doesn’t seem to be a clear explanation of what problem the current gun laws are trying to fix. Instead, it feels like a broad brush is being taken to lawful gun ownership. Are we really expecting criminals to line up and hand over their illegal handguns?
Klling the current program and replacing it with another that sharpens controlling criminal gun activity could go a long way toward calming responsible gun owners and reassuring suburban Canadians who are worried about gun violence.
Finally, perhaps it should be mandatory for all Liberals to own guns. Maybe that way they could occasionally hit one of their targets.
I think by now even the most ignorant Canadians realize licensed owners are not the problem and definitely the wrong target.
It doesn't matter. Since when does Ottawa listen to Canadians?
The only thing we can do is tell them to fvck off and hope they don't freeze our bank accounts.
All that aside... I shot a match on Thursday.
Ill shoot one on December 28th, January 4th.. and agsin on the 9th...
So despite the attacks by Ottawa on my sport... We're still pew pewing as much or more than ever
I’m still shooting at least once a week , skeet on Wednesdays, I have a couple rifles around that see no rounds , I’ve been a shotgun only guy for a decade . But I financially support Canadian firearms association and try to support lobby groups that oppose gun controls on guns that are NOT a problem. Owned by people that are NOT the problem. I cleared out handguns years ago and my rifles are not on any list , but I will support any ligitimate owner in any sport he likes . Mostly because I fear laws like the UK now have where even being a shotgunner is a PITA . Give these idiots an inch they will take fifty ft.
Even if this goes through my goal is for it to be an utter failure. They know my restricted firearms and I will surrender them but depending on the compensation they might just get the receiver *because they did catch me right in the middle of a build and this is all I have right now.
As far as the non restricted firearms now prohibited (and if they include the SKS) that is going to be very difficult to enforce this one. Personally I would rather all these guns to my buddy outside of Edmonton rather than surrender them to Ottawa. I can only assume there will be a lot of lost, broken and sold years ago, firearms in this category.

The dirtbags are a few moves ahead on this front and may catch some owners that aren't paying attention. The process is you submit a full list of firearms to the program and then at some point in the future they take them and at some point beyond that, they decide if you will be compensated and how much. It is a straight up extortion/theft scheme perpetrated by the government.
There's one guy who participated in the pilot roll out in Cape Breton...
He reported that he did indeed get ripped off.
'Told he'd receive 'x' amount of dollars...
Did not receive 'x' amount of dollars.
He even had to go through some bs to actuslly get his money... delays, phone calls..

Why would I supply a list of all the firearms I have - that is a gun registry and the gun registry was defeated. If this is the case I will supply them with a list of firearms that they know I have.
I'm tellin' ya... the overall consensus within the "sport shooting" community is...
Non compliance.
The formerly restricted stuff... We're fvcked. They know who has what, but the tens if not hundreds of thousands of firearms that went from non restricted to prohibited...
Good luck... no one's handing over anything.

It's the only way to possibly get paid. The other path is silence and when they end amnesty, you are rolling the dice on having every firearm seized and a lifetime ban for possession of prohibited weapons.
I am not at all saying people should comply with this extortion, just why some people may feel it is the least-worst option.
I think the gov't might have crossed a line though... 'Bitten off more than they can chew.
People see how nothing is done about real crime so... f*** it, might as well be a criminal.
More and more people are waking up to the reality that while crime goes un checked their so called leaders are busy wasting time and money chasing wind.
The curtains been lifted on this... Ottawa doesn't give a rats a** about public safety.
What a crapshow that was. Runkle has a few videos on it. It seems like Toronto police raided a place where firearms were expected to be and killed him. They had tons of less permanent solutions (like confronting him in the driveway two minutes before) but chose the path most likely to kill him with enough justification to avoid responsibility.

Paid.......my firearms are not for sale. I do not need the money so I would rather throw my guns in a lake over hand them over to the Liberals. I want this to fail and fail badly.
