The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

As I've mentioned before, Brampton had started expanding their school zones. pretty sure they added a bunch of community safety zones as well. If that had been curtailed, rather than outright banning cameras, that might have been a better compromise. The cities brought it on themselves by doing that crap.
I’m sure all the studies and reviews were done pro bono by friends of the establishments. SF

Rideshare driver at 03:45 hit the bull nose at major Mac and 400 and then got flattened by a transport. Both passengers died.

I have been led to believe that a concussion results in the loss of short term memory. If this is the case the driver who survived may not be able to add to what led up to the event. Did the truck driver see anything? Time may tell.

A lot of commercial vehicles are running dashcams now. It's cheap insurance against fraud and good for keeping tabs on driver behaviour. I won't be surprised it the cops already have some video but are hoping for more. Especially in the period leading up to the crash. It would be very helpful if they release make/model instead of a blanket "if you have video".

Most rideshare drivers also run cameras, for their own protection. Frequently it's just a 2 camera system with one facing forward, out the windscreen, and the other facing into the passenger compartment. I'll bet police already have that.

I'm trying to do the math on how many drinks one would have to chug to get to that number. Assume a 200 pound male and rye whiskey.

An alcoholic friend would pour 8 to 10 ounces of rye into a tumbler, put in a splash of ginger ale and drink it like it was water. He had a few DUIs in the slacker days and a few property damage incidents but fortunately never injured anyone.

I used the smart serve BAC 'calculator' for your person, 9 drinks over 4 hours would be 0.14 BAC. Unfortunately the calculator maxes out at 9 drinks.

About 30oz 15 minutes before you blow. I'm not sure how well the prediction (or testing) holds up at those levels. If you drink that much that quickly, I assume BAC is increasing for a while after but the simple models I can find don't have that bump.

How are they even alive at 6x?!!

I know, right? I thought my (now deceased - go figger) buddy set a high watermark @ .33 (4x+). That was at 10:30 am, though, and I'm 99.∞% sure he had Percs in his system as well. He always did.

"Three people were arrested on non-impaired driving offences."

And how does this work? I thought they only had a mandate (Charter) to stop people to check on impairment and nothing else.

Interesting choice of words. What other driving offences get you arrested? There aren't that many and most come with a good story. I suspect they mean charged. If that's the case, some people are dumb enough to hold phones while rolling up and a lot of people have paperwork issues (like no insurance).

Dangerous Operation, for one.
