Got a ticket from a camera. Defense?

I got my first ticket in the mail from an automated camera in Whitby. Do I have any chance of fighting this or getting a reduction?

Pay the ticket, it don’t go against your license. It goes against the car as they can’t prove who was the driver.

This is from my understanding

For red light tickets, they would normally be happy to reduce the fine if you plead hardship but that would require you to go to court and admit that you were driving. Not sure of the insurance implications of that and I would rather pay the anonymous fine to keep it off my abstract.

For most ASE tickets, I wouldn't bother fighting. If your car was stolen at the time, I would try, but otherwise it's low reward use of time (no insurance hit, no points, just value on ticket). As with Red light tickets, pleading hardship may get you a reduction in the fine but may also tie it to your abstract.

'Someone' driving my truck got a camera ticket Dec 7th. It came in the mail Friday.
52kph in a 40 on Kenilworth Ave near Britannia
$81.40 for 12kph over.......paid reluctantly.

Got a red light ticket in the mail a couple years ago. I found myself behind a semi and lost sight of the signals because the cab blocked them from my sight. Traffic in front and to the right of me were in motion so I proceeded. Went to court to fight the ticket. Explained the situation to the judge (backed with the evidence from the red light camera photos) and justified my safety conscience mind set at the time. I got the ticket reduced to less than half. It did not appear in my record even though one might consider it a moving offence. But because they can't identify the driver from the photo, it's a stationary offence just like a parking ticket.

Did you admit you were the driver?

Be thankful it wasn't a cop with a radar, pay the ticket and move on.
Yeah. I got one of those Jan. 1, 2022. Happy bloody New Year from the OPP. This one came Dec. 28. Bookends.
I'll be glad to put 2022 in the rearview mirror.
Next time I see a speed camera sign I'm hammering on the brakes, no matter who's behind me.

As much as I hate this Big Brother intrusion, it appears that I don't have a fighting chance. As mentioned above, an attempt to fight could backfire should I admit to being the driver. My main concern is keeping a clear abstract. Looks like I'm screwed.
One thing I've learned, with the help of this thread, is that my tendency to take my foot off the gas and slow down without braking when entering a lower speed zone, isn't always slowing me down fast enough. Thanks guys.

At least so far, all of the speed cameras look the same and are similarly positioned beside the road (and they all have signs before them "Municipal speed camera in use"), and all of the red-light cameras look the same and are similarly positioned before the intersection.

Get to know what they look like.

Wise words...ahem..., avoid a small ticket in exchange for a thousands of $ accident and inconvenience (speaking from experience driving behind guys like you).
They only put the speed cameras in places which are highly sensitive to speed, usually because that stretch of road has a history of accidents or pedestrian issues.
