I don't know how the local populace (in China) will manage if there are sudden changes to the way they do things...
Don't the poor outnumber the middle and upper class in society there?

Things are bad enough for them as it is...maybe its a good thing birth rates have fallen in the US and China lately..?

I wondered if the opposite could have happened. With a few other shorter term disasters there were birth spikes. The Mississauga rail disaster and one of the big blackout were two. I can understand the blackout as there was no TV.

Same people fit these three....

• Cry over and over that we cannot change the way we do things environmentally too quickly (or maybe not at all) because it will have some economic impact or at least require adjustments.
• Cry that the world's largest country population wise (China) is not changing the way they do things environmentally fast enough.
• Then cry the rest of the world should not do anything at all because of China....

Sums this one up.

BTW China has a decent plan and they totally understand that they cannot continue to scale like they do but they also need to keep their economy going. Like EVERYONE else they cannot flip an energy switch over night, they need to transition. China has been trending up over the last couple of decades tracking with their strong economic growth and much of China is still developing... The REAL risk the western world has is China may end up owning and being the most technologically advanced when it comes to clean energy if we can't get our act together, held back because of people that fit into the three points above.

Many reasons countries are low or high, developing world trends lower and are trending upwards over time, developed world has a mix or low and wasteful idiots. Critical thinking is required to see what is really going on and to have half a legit idea of the future.

Germany went the way of mass immigration to boost population . It backfired on them . Rather then them getting cheap labour . The people that emigrated chose instead to use their generous saftey net and not work .
