Cruising during State of Emergency?

OMG Snow! Who ordered the snow?

Key words to use if you are pulled over in the next little while "personal support"
example: I am on my way home from my friends house where I had been providing some personal support assistance.

I support the stay home plan but if a friend is in a jam and will cripple his back trying to move something then we have to use discretion. Going to visit a friend, especially a sick one, doesn't cut it. I would hope that the police would cut some slack if there was a purpose to the trip, fixing plumbing, computer etc, taking food or meds.

BUT< they apparently also charged him with violating the Health dept orders to stay home.

No such order exists. This is yet another thing that went from "some strangers comment on Facebook" to "fact", and then spread around as such.

I got into a slightly heated debate with a friend on Facebook last night because she saw some spammy website that had an "article" stating Walmart was closing next week. I told her it was bunk....but....it was on the internet, it must be true! It took 2 of her friends who actually WORK there to chime in via comments to the otherwise to convince her, and even then, I still think she wasn't fully convinced.

The police are NOT pulling people over asking where you are going. Multiple police forces including the OPP as a whole have publicly stated this is not a thing...again, contrary to what's floating around online.

There is NO "you are not allowed to drive" emergency law in act right now.
There is NO "health department" orders to stay home.
There is NO "you are going to be pulled over and make sure you're immediate family if there's more than one person in the car" routine going on right now.

Fact checking before just believing everything online and spreading them as fact is essential right now. Ugh.

" PrivatePilot" Thank you for clearing that up.

I believe everything I see on TV, what Politicians say, the internet, my exe`s. Like I have a hole in my head.
I trust bikers. Well, most of them.

For example, when Mark Zuckerberg says he will give $1 million dollars to whomever sends him an e mail. Is one of the last person I would trust.

Exactly! At least not at the moment.

My wife heard from her friend and brother. I questioned it and I also check for any updates every morning. Then she starts whining about how I don't just take her word for it... Smh.

Does not invalidate one thing i said.

Technically sure, but why bother lying to anybody, much less law-enforcement over it?

If you are out doing tasks regarding supporting somebody else, fine.

If you’re out buying groceries, fine.

If you’re out going for a drive simply to keep your own sanity, fine.

There is no need whatsoever to make excuses or lies about it, aside from the fact, as mentioned, people are not getting pulled over and interrogated as to why they are out to begin with.

Good grief, I didn't want anyone to lie, it better be the truth.

The truth at this point is "I'm out doing something", and leave it at that. If they ask what, answer truthfully. The end. There's no need to do anything otherwise, aside from worry about whatever got you pulled over to begin, not just the fact that you're actually out driving on it's own being said reason.

Stocking up on essentials the USA way, soda pop and hotdog buns

North country,
City of Toronto is surrounded by a thick bubble of thermal pollution.
Toronto exists in a small micro climate, that's what keeps it warmer in the winter and a bit cooler in the summer. There is no bubble of thermal pollution.

Toronto's UHI thermal pollution isn't measurable in the winters or an season at night, it has a very small impact on the city during hot sunny days in the summer.

Cooler in the summer? Interesting, that hasn't been my experience. Obviously right by the lake is cooler, but by the time you get up to Eglinton it is like you are on the surface of the sun.

I want hotdogs now.

I wonder if one was to crash a good distance from home, if insurance will want to pay out. When you are clearly not on your way to work or a grocery store.

Getting insurance to do anything right now is a nightmare. Neighbour got hit a month ago and adjuster hasn't looked at her car yet. As for will they pay out, I cant see how they could get out of it. Just guidance to stay home, not law. Once it becomes a criminal offence to leave you house for recreation, then they can get out of paying.
