Service Ontario Service Interuption........

so are they still processing sticker orders online?...my b-day is the end of April and I'd rather order them online now, then take advantage of the extension and then have to deal with total chaos when things return to normal...i don't see anything on their website saying that you can't continue to order validation stickers online, just that you don't have to...any thoughts?

Me too on April 30th.

I will wait until closer to the date. You will be able to print a confirmation that you’ve paid and carry that if necessary until the sticker arrives.

my hubby is April 30th as well :D for 2 days we're the same age as he's born in '67 and i'm in '68...good idea about the printed confirmation...my sister was telling me to wait because she thought an online order might get lost in the shuffle...i think i'll call them monday just to confirm...

What is the rush for March, April, May, June birthdays to renew stickers if the government is saying that it's OK to ride with an expired sticker?

I spoke with a parking enforcement officer yesterday and he was guesstimating that it would be June before service Ontario opened again.

Well, there may be one viable argument. After this mess all levels of gov't are going to be licking their wounds. What are the odds that when the system restarts, plate stickers will be $150 instead of $120?

there's no rush, I just don't want to be caught in a whirlwind of thousands of people trying to renew all at once...would rather get it done than have to deal with all the chaos when things return to normal is all...

I thought you can’t order online if your sticker is due in a very short time. Like now as April is just around the corner. You need to allow enough processing time
Maybe they removed some of these restrictions.

Also. Doesn’t the sticker expire on the first of the month of your birthday. And not on your actual birthdate. I.e April 30

I know this doesn’t really matter now. Only during normal times.

I'm thinking the other way in that 2020 will be the year of riding dirty and I'll buy stickers next year.

What rider with a March, April, May, or June birthday wants to pay for a sticker in September or October? Just wait until the following season. Especially if the government has plans to increase the sticker fees.

a motorcycle sticker is $42.
Won’t make you rich if you don’t buy it.

but yes if haven’t bought it by September and put your bike away in October than yes you provably won’t be going to service ontario to buy one

True, but some people have multiple bikes and a couple of cages and I can see hundreds of dollars in fees.

Birthday. That's why cops do more traffic stops to check stickers at the end of the month. Their odds are higher that it is after your birthday.

You are right

but they were fully aware of the costs of ownership when they decided to purchase and ride multiple bikes/cages.

Hmm. ok

I guess it doesn’t matter in my case as my bday is on the 2nd. (Almost an April fools baby)

Because I 80% suck at the Google and am 20% lazy posing a q to the good people of gtam:
I didn't ride at all last year, as I was recovering from surgeries and stuff, so I never renewed my sticker.... expired in 2018....so am I able to ride right now?
I'm assuming the answer is yes, but you know what they say about assuming.....

And this is why we are going to end up on complete lockdown. :( SO should be given the authority to cut up licenses when people show up and admit to breaking quarantine.

"over 100 people have admitted to breaking quarantine to come to the Bay Street location and have waited in a crowded line for renewals.

Even an individual marked by OHIP head office as a "COVID-19 patient" made it through screening and came to the office, a couple of weeks ago, she says.

After continually coughing only feet away from other clients, Smith says the individual arrived at a colleague's counter with a medical note exempting him from having to come to any ServiceOntario and stating that he had a "respiratory disease" and was to "self-isolate for 14 days".

The note was dated a few days ago from when the client returned to the country."

so after 20 minutes or so on hold, i found out they ARE still processing online orders...so for anyone really wanting to renew their stickers, go right ahead...

There are no freebies. Renew now or renew later, you're still going to have to pay for the entire year. If you can get through and renew online, it's not like you were doing anything else at the moment. Go stand in line? Uh, not a chance.

And if you don't want to renew because it will save your $42 than maybe you should take up a less expensive hobby.
