will be interesting to see what "essential" is defined as at a high level. My work is already trying to figure out how they can get on the essential list... to install office furniture... in offices with zero current utilization. I suspect there will be a lot of rule bending until a big fine gets tacked onto their plans.

Quebec's list of essential services.

Pot and Beer stores classified as essential.

Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) and Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC)

Well, I had to go out for a bit today.
I'm surprised at how many people aren't doing the social distancing at all. Guy in line behind me had to scold a group of 4 elderly people and told them to back up... they were literally standing as close as you would when waiting in line at a movie theater on opening night of a huge fancy dancy film.

People criss-crossing each other all over the place...

Come on people... take it seriously... Today the USA had DOUBLE the new cases (9883) compared to Italy (4789)...

Gonna get really ugly stateside soon... and there's still a bunch of loonies believing it's a hoax to make Trump look bad... idiots...

epidemiologists will be writing research papers about this pandemic for years to come. Hopefully we will learn from it as it’s not going to be the last one. This is certainly one of the worse ones we have had for a long time though.

Toronto had millions on N95 masks stockpiled from the SARS crisis 17 years ago but apparently the elastic has degraded.

Lawyers.

I’ve seen a few posts about the LCBO staying open. I understand the joking around and myself kind of thought that it can’t be an essential service The reasoning behind it is sound though.

I’ve dealt with someone going through the detox process a couple of times and it isn’t a pleasant situation at all. Never mind the potential health effects, the confusion and hallucinations are a very real and scary thing. Like mentioned I’ve been present for the process and both times I remember it ended up as a 3-4 day hospital stay. Just wanted to put a little context on the LCBO thing.

Not to mention the Cleetus Pockets throughout the south and southwest.

That's roughly my concern except with a two year old and milk. Trying to keep a two week supply in case we get locked up. Having to cut the milk cold Turkey may kill us all.

Wait till the orange one end the quarantine in a week he is already saying he doesn't like it and wants the quarantine ended against all advice.

What surprises me the most about Trump is that no one has popped a cap in him.

It is more expensive but you can by the cold filtered or whatever jazz milk, it has a much longer lifespan, so you can get a little more to last more than the two weeks... you can also freeze bag milk, it separates so shake it up good when you thaw (before cutting the bag of course).

My mother would by multiple bags when it was on sale and freeze it. No adverse affects.

I tried freezing beer....hasnt worked well but putting a stick in the bottle first is going a bit better.

Sort of like cracking a hard boiled egg.

Powdered milk ftw.

Ya gotta be old enuf.

That's nasty I had a friend whose parents used to mix powdered milk half-and-half with real milk disgusting

:( He was doing quite well. His ego has no bounds.

"Global News has seen a copy of the legislation set to be tabled Tuesday when a small number of MPs from all parties return to Ottawa to pass a multibillion-dollar coronavirus support package.

The legislation grants Finance Minister Bill Morneau extraordinary new powers to spend, borrow and tax without having to get the approval of opposition MPs until December 2021." GG-maybe ok so far, having to ask permission for everything would really slow things down. Timeframe seems excessively long for no oversight.

"In a minority Parliament where each money bill that comes before the House of Commons is a confidence vote — meaning the government could fall if it fails — it also raises the prospect that the government will avoid votes of confidence on proposed new spending and taxation. " GG-Sad face. Defacto liberal majority on very important issues for 19 months is not cool.

"All opposition parties were surprised at the content of the bill and all singled out the extensive section which gives Morneau new powers. "

"
The legislation includes 20 sections, one of which will create a new Public Health Events of National Concern Payments Act that would allow any cabinet minister with the approval of the finance minister to dispense “all money required to do anything” in the event of a public health emergency." GG- ok in theory, seems like there should be a backstop on this part too.

"The bill will also let the federal government ignore patent restrictions when the patent applies to a device deemed necessary to respond to a public health emergency." GG - Seems reasonable

Not to mention the Cleetus Pockets throughout the south and southwest.

And meanwhile Trump is tweeting in the middle of the night suggesting that in 15 days he's just gonna let things return to normal.

What could possibly go wrong.
