RCMP officer's gun stolen at mall

Left it in a plastic bag, hanging on the back of a chair with a full magazine and police radio. Tell me, does this sound like someone got paid for a gun and radio? Or is this guy too stupid to be a police officer?

I'm not seeing what you wrote in the reference.

Very fishy indeed, and the fact it wasn't reported for a few hours is very sketchy.

Responsible law abiding fire arm owners will be the ones that will be paying the price for more nanny gun laws.

Makes sense to me. It takes time for someone who got straight Cs in high school to come up with a remotely plausible story for something like that.

strange story
a cop in uniform needs to have his weapon holstered
even if off duty, in uniform they need the weapon

so this cop had his in a bag
I'm guessing he was off duty, out of uniform

so why is he carrying the gun around in a bag?
just a guess, but I think the bag was locked in his car

Pity the fool that turns on that radio, unless its a simplex one they will have some visitors forthwith when they turn it on and it affiliates with the system.

How dumb would you have to be to steal a cops gun?

Mrs FLSTC says was probably a purse (female officer?). Makes sense to me - more of a purse theft, pistol was co-incidental.
Still beyond negligent. Either properly keep tabs on weapons (checking on it every few hours doesnt count) or lock them up for $^#%#% sakes.

The is why we need a ban on handguns in Toronto.

Nonsense.

A ban will do nothing to curb the gun violence... absolutely nothing! It will have absolutely no affect on the flow of illegal guns.. and will be nothing more than a joke to the thugs they're trying to target with the ban... even more than it is to law abiding folks with half a clue.
It's stupid idea...

A ban would have also done absolutely nothing to stop this situation. The RCMP cop would have been exempt.. and the thief wouldn't have given the ban a second of thought.

Good catch for the Mrs. Makes sense but still there are rules in life that you never bend.

Leaving an unsecured firearm unintended
Leaving child or pet in a car
Giving out personal information to people that contact you
Opening strange emails
Etc

It's absurd to think a gun ban will do anything . All this wasted talk . Why isn't JT and the police talking about the gangs doing the shootings. Why are they passing laws to control law abiding shooters . Not tougher sentences for violent crimes . I know why because that is not an easy fix and sound bite on TV.

time of the theft was 7:30 p.m to 9:45 p.m
maybe the officer was in a movie theatre?

Then the next question would have to be why did you bring your gun to a movie theater?

write up says the gun etc were in a satchel
QPly2hq.jpg

maybe after work the officer went to the mall
had the satchel with them containing gun radio, clips etc

another assumption is that all these stolen guns are from car break ins
so they have to keep the weapon with them, in a satchel

what is unusual is the 2+ hour time frame of the theft
if the satchel was with the officer
you would think it doesn't take 2 hours to notice it gone

so the officer either left the satchel in the car
or they were watching a movie
or just really stupid and didn't notice for 2+ hours it was gone

this reminds me of reddit where the membership actually solve crimes
GTAM is going to solve the issue of a stupid RCMP officer

I took daught's post ("This is why we need a ban on handguns in Toronto") as sarcasm.... Subtle, brutal, well executed sarcasm.

That said... I've got a few stories about my dealings various RCMP members that will convince you the organization has devolved to the point where they're pretty much clown shoes.
The get no quarter or favours.
