Heading South

Cold and rainy day around lake Erie. Then spring arrived once I got close to Pittsburgh. Made it to Elkins today, last part of the ride was fun. Looking forward to another long day and more fun tomorrow, heading towards Boone, via BRP. Depending on how day goes I may end up close to Robbinsville, NC.

From Boone if you take the 221 over to Linville, it's a sweet ride with lots of roadside waterfalls. Then hop right back on the BRP.
Safe trip!

221 was a good surprise at the end of a very long and twisty day. I feel like a had a good track day :)

Long ride today from Elkins to close to Asheville. Mainly back roads, via Marlinton, a short ride only on the hwy, one of the best riding days I had. While yesterday I was cold for a large part of the day, today I had to remove even under layers, and still was hot, but no complains :)

Tomorrow Cherohala, 129, and back on BRP as far as I can get. Aiming to return by Saturday night.

Made to Deals Gap and Cherohala, then back to Boone area. Heading back North and it looks like I'll have a wet and stormy day today :(

Good for you.
You could exploit this gap - 77 comes up through it and I've done it from your location in a day,
Goes pretty straight up to Erie PA then along Lake Erie and home.

This gives you a good wind direction if you can organize the timing.

I took two days back, aiming to have more fun. Friday was tough. In the morning I had thick fog, heavy rain and wind bursts, I was concerned I won't be able to leave the hotel. Then fallen trees and debris on the BRP, had to detour on the hwy where I got into a massive storm, bjt made it through ok. Than more rain, got back on BRP but too much debris on the road, so back on main roads and as I was closing Cumberland, got into another storm, even heavier. At some point I thought I wasn't going to make it and there was nowhere to stop in the neck of the woods. Made it to the hotel eventually but my gear (goretex all-around) failed in all that, only the boots were left dry. Next day I enjoyed some more twisties and made it home Saturday around 7. Last hour and a half was could though.

Overall a fun ride.

home in two weeks and I'll be traversing a similar route I hope tho June and BC comes soon enough
