Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

Not sure if this belongs here or the reasonably priced thread, but to me it seems expensive. He claims one sold recently for 27k USD but I wouldn't think it had 50km on it like this one.

Having said that, this is "the one" for me..this Gen of zx7 just pulls at me especially in this colour combo, I rode a standard zx7 back in the day and I have a soft spot for it. Nostalgia and all that...

completely agree with your analysis
the auction bike must have been low miles to get 27K

if this bike tugs at your heartstrings
to you, it may be worth 12K
if you plan to keep it forever

if for whatever reason down the road you want/need to sell it
I'd expect to take a big loss on it

I'd try a low offer, see what happens
but it doesn't sound like a desperate seller

You might have misunderstood me. Yes it pulls at my heartstrings, but only because it looks like the bike I rode in my youth and I would love to have one again, if only for nostalgic reasons. I have no intention to put an offer on it.

I'm not in a position to have a garage queen at this point, which is what it would be. Honestly I wouldn't even ride it often, only to bring to meets to show off what to me is a beautiful classic.

I agree, it's a lot of money for what it is. The K series is worth something to someone I guess but for me I would be happy to have a standard one just for the look and pay a lot less, especially considering it would probably see only a few hundred km a year in my care.

Da fuq? Preserved for future laughs "the bike has just over 220.000km on it which is nothing on a bike for it's age. The same bike complete online is going for between $3500-$4800.$1,345.00 is a small price to pay to have a sweet bike. "

What 30+ year old bike with 220,000 km of any brand has sold recently for $4,800, yet alone a shadow? Yikes. Must be on some good meds for the shoulder injury.

lol... thought it was a typo, but he typed it twice - body of the ad, and the description. His email 'withes.hubbie@gmail.com'

This made my day! I decided to leave a post it note on all my project bikes. When I die, my wife will know exactly how to list them on Kijiji

I think this qualifies

Even bone stock with zero miles and certified that bike is worth $2500 at most.

From what I've noticed, most ads on Kijiji are significantly overpriced these days. Decently priced ones don't last more than a few days, and are typically outside Toronto/GTA.

Just to name a few that I've been watching for friends ...

Some Duc Monster 696s from 2009-2011 are listed for 7-10k

2015 Honda cb300s for 4k+

2017+ Honda Rebel 300s for 4.5-5k+

So maybe someone can explain this to me?

Back in the fall I was aggressively shopping for this same bike.
I inquired about this one because hey it’s new, it’s the colour I wanted, 0km and it’s a non current. So should be able to get a deal no?
$17,000 no deal
They have two left even. One grey and one orange
Why are they asking so much for 5 year old bikes?

I ended up with a 2015 with a bunch of nice accessories for under $13,000 and it only had 12,000km on it. I’m not sure it had ever seen dirt.
I didn’t even think I got that good of a deal to be honest.
There were plenty in that range.
But these two stood out to me and low and behold still for sale.

I have talked to them once or twice and I don't think that that place knows a lot about bikes. My concern about the bike that interested you is that I believe that they are no longer a KTM dealer and where would that leave you in terms of warranty?

... where would that leave you in terms of warranty?
On a 5 year old used motorcycle?
Desperately hoping that no defects in the original manufacturers materials or workmanship suddenly reveals itself.

Ouch, I wouldn't go that far. These are hard to come by in good condition
They have the same problem any used 1000cc superbike does - they aren't any cheaper to insure than a new one. And generally the market that would be most interested in a used superbike does not fall into a favourable insurance bracket to begin with

Except they're not used, theyre new non current leftovers.
Still way overpriced.
