x2. The ownership is the same, except on the "Vehicle" side it shows all the regular details, but on the "Plate" side it simply states "unplated".

A lot of track bikes can't be licenced in any event as the Ontario government won't allow them on the street.
They are generally overpowered for the weight of the bike and they don't have hazards, turn signals or headlights (useless weight).

I don't race myself so I'm sure those that do will have a few things to add.

1) Motocross bikes have skid plates.
2) It's not private property if you look over the fence.
3) Events always require licensing because racing is a privilege. Street riding is a right.
4) There is no such thing as over powered. That's why no hazard light.
5) NP,NO, I think Yamaha makes those.
6) I don't race myself either, but like Woody Allan said "Sex with yourself is sex with the one you love"

Sorry guys, you are correct.
You can get an ownership for bike that is unplated.
As I stated, I'm sure the racers will correct me.
Not really my area, so I will just slink away.

Kudos for admitting the mistake. Most people just skip directly to the slink away part...without ever saying anything. ;)

Some have blank frames that never had papers. Many, I would even say most are insurance write offs/salvage bikes that maybe never came with much other than a bill of sale, or did come with a salvage title or salvage papers out of the states. Sometimes you get that paperwork with it, sometimes you don't because it's been lost or whatever, and a lot of people don't really care because it will never be tranferred to your name/plated/insured anyway.

And of course, I have to assume maybe a small percentage were stolen at some point...

I have 3 race bikes, one has no VIN, one has a clean ontario title, and one is a salvage out of the states with the papers ...whatever

Yeah, even if it's a clean title the name on it could be 3 owners ago. Most likely it's still the guy lost a lot of money converting it from a street bike

O.k. That would have been my first, larger assumption. The question came up when I saw a bike for sale, track only, no ownership, never been down, never been raced. I was just wondering how, besides being stolen, a bike could be in that condition? If it was salvage, then it's been down, or at least written off, at some point. If it is blank, I would assume that it's been raced at some point. Would that mean the bike is stupidly overpriced in a way, since the person selling isn't even the owner? Anyways, sorry for taking off on this tangent.
 
Possibly worse than overpriced are the overly stupid ads. Never raced, never down but track only? So a weekend tire eater will be better somehow than a raced bike?
Only missing upper and lower fairings, bent peg, exhaust wired on. Bike is mint.

GSXR, full hindle system, power commander, quick shift installed, 14 high performance stickers, never abused....

People get lowballed cause they think their stuff is worth more than it is. Especially with personal things like motorcycles.
