anyone know where i can get a gel pad from in canada?
i want to gut then recover my passenger seat for my GF.

ive got a corbin for me so im good.....just passenger seat on a 09 600rr..

If you are interested, then sometimes Can Tire has the gel seats on sale for $10, but I wouldn't suggest using that as a inner gel cushion that you recover. They are more suited for strapping over the seat when needed. I think they are slightly larger and more suited for auto's, but they are thin, enough and I cut mine down to fit the contour of my old bike. It worked well for what it was.

I would be skeptical of being able to make a ss passenger seat more comfortable. She needs her own bike.

I can vouch for this product. I used it on my larger touring trips. Never had a sore butt.

believe it or not but lots of guys on 600rr.net get it done to both rider and passenger seats, i would have sent mine out to be done but ive already got a corbin.
lots of guys even bulk up the passenger seat a little more.

i tried getting her to take her m1/m2 but she doesnt want to. ill most likely be getting a bagger eventually for the 2 up rides and keep the CBR for having fun.

thanks for the link!
is it actually squares? allows for airspace i guess.

There's always a vendor at the January and spring show. They do custom stuff as well.

Yes it is actually squares, but take the gel insert out and flip it over, otherwise it traps water after getting rained on and then you get a wet butt when you sit on it... you can just sew in some straps with some sort of velcro or clips that wrap under the seat to keep it firmly in place.

Here's some old info on it to give you an idea: http://www.stromtrooper.com/601131-post21.html

ill go take a look at it in person.
im going to remove the vinyl cover off the OEM seat, then you use a turkey carver (electric knife) to cut out the part of the OEM foam you want removed then cut the gel to fit, spray glue it in, then just staple the OEM cover back on.

Have you considered an AirHawk instead? More money, but way more comfortable. I snagged one a few weeks back for $30 at a swap meet, best investment (and deal) ever.

i actually ended up getting a 5/8" thick gel pad off ebay and ive already recovered my passenger seat.
came out great, its a little thicker than the OEM one which is what i wanted and gives my GF enough padding on the seat.

www.triplekupholstery.com. Out in Welland, Ontario. Does great work and very reasonably priced. If you make an appointment he'll do it while you wait.

Highly recommend. Great work and very reasonable.

Great product but a little pricey. Keep an eye open for deals when they happen.

Just mind the heat if it's been sitting in the sun on hot day. That seat will get scorching and hold it.

ive heard that may happen, i have finishing foam on both sides of the gel, it may or may not make a difference.
if it doesnt work out ill try something else, but on a SS bike one of those pads that goes on top of the seat isnt really a option.

Most any bike shop should be able to get you a gel seat insert to fit. My Dad bought one at Ben's Motorcycles last summer and had it installed on the stock seat of his Roadstar and loves it. How that seat wasn't already cushy enough I'll never know!
