This. When I see a 250/300 on Kijiji all modded I just have to ask why?
Can i ask you why you even wonder why? Maybe have you ever thought the same question pop up in cagers head when they see you on street? Especiall if you ride a SS

I would agree heartly if we didnt get raped by insurance already....
Please don't advise any more people to make their bike's sound annoying.Get an loud *** exhaust so you can be heard on the road. that would be all. unless you plan to track it.

but there are very fast bikes that get classified into cheaper insurance brackets.

I think if he wants to keep it, he should mod it however if wants (but I'd prefer if he didn't make it annoyingly loud), but it's a bad decision financially, especially if you are going to sell it.
But hardly anyone rides a 2 stroke on the street anymore and the bike in question isn't a 2 stroke. Its all about the tone. Loud like open pipe or HD ... Yeah.... But the old school 2stroker scream like sex.... Love it. The aftermarket exhaust on 2stroker is actually very important. Its alot hard to design one

I looked into aftermarket for my bike but it would gain like 0.3 HP and make the bike even louder. It's already too loud.
With a few hundred in other mods you can get another 3 hp or so over stock. Not worth it really. I think that included bigger carb, exhaust, big bore kit, upgraded power valve, timing advance, etc. With tune? My experience with 2stroke is ..... The exhaust to them is like a turbo kit to a car.
Maybe the rotrax motor is too lean to begin with?

I thought you were tight(no homo) with big thunder out of Ancaster?
Big thunder? Le Professore?
Holy hell this thread took a real dump. The advice given to the op is sounds financial advice given that he'll likely sell the bike. This is not based on cc or cock size. This is a high probability as most people never keep their first bike. That said yes some are very happy staying with their first bike or within a certain cc range. Nothing wrong with either. Jumping in with 2 stroke this, mod everything etc etc is just foolish.
As for the 600 crowd disses the 300 crowd? Not true. I actually really like the smaller bikes and everyone I ride with rides ss bikes. None of us make fun of the smaller bikes and they're always welcome. Riding is riding... unless you're on a hognohomo
I ride Ruckus can i join?
Really.... you're killing this guys thread. Go ride or something.
CafeRay, I get that... Guess it's a good thing idgaf about other people's opinions/ perception of me. Except for Inreb. And you. Maybe Cool, too. And...
