While I am not a physicist or engineer, Newton's 3rd law is specifically the one that will break your skull should you hit the floor. A crack in the helmet means the next time an impact occurs, the material used to absorb the reactive forces to the initial impact are already weakened severely.

Google shows no validity with regards to your "helmets are designed to crack". If I had more time I'd start looking into scholarly articles but I highly doubt helmets are designed to crack; they are designed to absorb the reactive forces before the force transfers to your head so your head doesn't crack.

Motorcycle helmets are meant to be replaced after an impact so this isn't a valid point.

Yes it is. Look at the post I made earlier referencing the Nexx helmet cracking. Assuming the user had never dropped the helmet before, it means that the crack occurred beyond the outer layer and into whatever absorbent layer is on the inside causing the forces to transfer onto the user's skull, causing a concussion.

EDIT: I should clarify that I meant a helmet shouldn't crack; not that you should use your helmet for multiple crashes lol

Sorry, but this makes no sense. Forces that crack a helmet will propagate the force sideways on the shell, not towards the skull. This must have been a massive impact or on a sharp surface like a curb. The point of the shell is to prevent abrasion and penetration, and distribute forces 90 degrees from the impact vector. What is important is how much force gets transduced to the skull, which is entirely the EPS liner, which are virtually identical on all helmets.
A helmet can crack and still pass SNELL, this is often why polycarbonate helmets can outperform fibreglass.
Just seeing a crack on a helmet after a crash tells you nothing about the performance, nor does some guy's opinion on a forum.
 
I ended up buying Shark Speed-R Redding Replica Helmet for $395+tax at GP Bikes http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=15704

Shark is a solid brand and it fits better than my RSR2 which is also the same size. For some reason it feels lighter too. I think it's a bit wider and weight is more distributed.

Thing that sold me was the fact that it had a built in visor for sunny days. I used to carry around 2 face shields before one for day and one for night and this is an auto savings of $50-$75.

How did you get it that cheap? Isn't it on their site for 439 pre tax? Or was it a sale that passed?
 
I went from a RSR2, to a Bell RS-1. Don't know numbers, but I didn't notice any more or less weight. While I loved the RSR2, the RS-1 is better in almost every way.

I have an RS 1 as well. great helmet. i just made mistake and bought XL instead of L. my fault.
but still, great helmet . especially with the Transition visor
