Looking for pant suggestions in the $200-$300 range...

I wear AGV Telluride pants in all but hot weather, only because I got them too late last season. On a bike with zero wind protection I've worn them comfortably into the negatives, and that's a lot of highway riding as I commute Guelph->Mississauga with them. They are waterproof from my experience, but looking at the zippers for venting, I'm going to guess they'll be quite warm in the summer. These are NOT an overpant, unless you're an anorexic emo kid, they fit quite tight. I do like them though.

Are these pants available locally? Where'd you buy them?

So...

Still filtering my options. I still plan to try out the Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants. However, another contender has been thrown into the mix.

I went to Apex Cycle in Cambridge to check out the Victorys and they stock Olympia gear there. I really liked what I saw with the Olympia Air Glide pants. I also want to check out the Dainese New Drake Air pants but just need to find out who sells Dainese in the Guelph-Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo area to check them out.

I have the alter egos. OK pants.. Saved me on the road but long term durability is not great. After 4 years the zippers are falling apart.

Tourmaster Flex are really nice pants. Similar to joe rocket alter ego, but the whole pant converts to mesh. Much better venting and overall quality.

Ok .. So popped into GP today.. Tried on a bunch of pants.. I ended up getting the Alter Ego 12 pants! The current model is way better designed and constructed than the pair I got in 2009.

I think these are a Canadian only release too, as I didn't see any reviews or listings online on them.

Oh, and on sale for $125..!

Congrats... :)

You got a killer deal. There were two pairs of the 11.0 Alter Egos at Royal Distributing for $148; but alas the XL did not fit my middle age spread. Will need to go to 2XL...

Still considering the Alter Ego and the Olympia Airglide. I agree that the 12.0 is a nice upgrade over the 11s.

Not sure what the difference from the 11s are.. But my old pair was several generations old. I noticed the. Shape of the hip vent is now slightly different starting and ending higher on the leg.

Will go well with my "super ego" jacket. ( not sure why they stopped selling that design here)

how long is this sale happening for?

Sale on to April 20th. While stocks last

Is it a store wide sale or just selected items?

theres certain items on clearance - I saw it on the flyer by the door when you come it. On the racks the price was $224, and when I checked out, I got them to adjust it to the flyer price. But form April 11-20th they are doing no-HST on a lot of gear, including sale items.
I ordered myself a new helmet too. :)

oh, 30% off tires too.

Damn, sorry I missed this sale. Really in the market for a pair of pants like this. Was also looking at the Tour master Flex but they just look so ugly in the online photos :)

Anyone know if Royal Distributing carries the JR AE 12s? They have a sale on this weekend, was going to check it out. Not too hopeful I'll get them for less than $125 that's a great price.

Edit: whoops just noticed this is from 2013 lol

Well... Since this was bumped...

Ironically I recently finally bought some pants.

I ended up going with the Olympia Airglide 3 pants:

I think these are going to work great. Inner weather/waterproof layer can be removed to essentially make these armored mesh pants which can be worn over pants, shorts, or on their own. With the inner layer out these things flow a ton of air. In this pic you can see the hip guard which is not too substantial. Just a light foam which I doubt will do much. I would like to figure out a way to shore this up.

The knee protectors though are CE rated so they should offer a legitimate level of protection. As you can see they are adjustable to three positions.

Here is the knee protector out of the pocket:

Cordura is used in the areas most likely to have an impact or abrasion. The other areas are mesh.

There are a lot of options out there for these sort of pants. More money would get me into Klim but those pairs seemed heavier and flowed less air. I am not an adventure rider so I was looking for something to commute with, do some sport touring with, and cruise with.

Olympia has a good reputation and seem to offer a really solid product at the price point. Perhaps at some point I will get an Olympia Airglide jacket to complement the pants. For now though I still have a textile jacket plus my crazy Icon mesh jacket.

What I like about these pants is how versatile they are. On super hot days you can wear them on their own. On a commute to work you can use them as an overpant which will provide a decent amount of abrasion protection and some armor in a fall. On a more spirited ride or a sport touring scenario I can wear my Icon Knee Armor and Armored shorts underneath to bring the protection to another level.

Yes they carry AE12s. I believe they had them as far back as September, but to be honest, I can't remember when I looked.

My only complaint with the Alter Ego 12s is that the rain line is not a full length liner. It ends maybe 4-6 inches from the cuff and maybe 1-3 inches from the "belt". Otherwise, they have been phenomenal.

I have a pair of these as well, there are 2 liners that can be removed (waterproof and warm liner) which should make it ok for warmer weather. They also have knee protection.

Dainese New Drake Air textile pants. Quality product.

I'd stay away from Joe Rocket's pants... This a crash at less than 40kms/h.
