TD insurance - why are you so broken?

I'm just generally annoyed by the TD auto quote system. I wanted to get a quote for bike and car since my record is completely clear. I also own my parents cars so I wanted to put it all under one insurance company. I contacted 6 companies and they all gave me very reasonable quotes for car. RBC gave me a good quote for car and bike, but I go out of my way and try not to do business with RBC.

I called in trying to place a quote with the person there and they said I need to fill out an application. I didn't get why, but they said nothing could be done until then. I said okay and they mailed me an application. I fill out with the person on the phone and put NA for everything under accidents or tickets etc... and the person on the phone said this is ridiculous.

I get a letter from them today and they quoted me $1k higher than all the companies for my car. I called in asking for bike insurance and apparently the quote I got (I wasn't supposed to get) was mailed out because of my original phone call with the info I gave them.

I asked the person on the phone how long it would take and they said 2 to 4 weeks. I told them I will wait until next week friday and then I will call RBC. Then he said I need to send in another application for my bike because the one I sent would only be applied for the car. I asked why it wasn't mentioned to me before because I was asking for BOTH bike and car. He said he didn't know and there would be no way to ask for both quotes and I have to mail another application.

So I'm trying to give TD business, we are asking for policy for 3 people with only 1 person with an at fault accident for 6 years (with no payout) and no convictions for last 3 years. Driving for 10 years+ each all with G license and full M for me. 1 Tenant and home insurance.

If someone is on twitter tweet them this thread because honestly TD, it's not worth the aggravation to even apply to you any more. I wanted to go with TD because we have all our accounts with TD including personal and mortgage, RRSP for parents, wealth management etc... I moved my business loan and accounts out of TD because of stupidness from their business side and now I'm slowly moving all my personal stuff. We were trying to discharge a mortgage at TD and we pre-paid so we could get the amount down. We asked for a new discharge statement and they wouldn't send it until the last second when I asked the local branch manager to get involved and contact CAS... they kept making BS excuses cuz they ****ed up. My parents just bought a house, guess who they won't apply to a mortgage for???

I had a 40% hike so I dropped them. I've been looking for a 5EB R6 for my 25th birthday (mid-May) needless to say 6k/year for 01 r6 vs my previous $612 for 07 CBR125R prevous and current bump to $866 I figure I wonder find anything better than $1600

Go online, fill in info, they give you quote then. If you like it call them with reference number. Bang done. It took me 20 min max.

Sent from my imaginary friend
it used to be like that. i tried onlines quotes from them in the last few days and it is now like what the op said... you fill out stuff, then fill out some papers and send it to them. basically it seems as though they don't have online quotes anymore.

I got my quotes online, just a few months ago.
It was quick and painless. The follow-up phone call from an agent was informative, courteous and quick. I have no idea why you were put through what you described. It is not reflective of my own experience.

I also saved a bundle with them compared to my previous insurance company (Primmum and Dominion of Canada).

I had pretty much the exact same experience with them. Some of the best customer service I've ever received. Even made an appointment to receive a call and got it exactly on time. Jevco was trying to rob me.

I have already filled out an online application originally which prompted me to call in so I did.

I had 2 at fault accidents over 7 years ago, but all clear since then. The rep on the phone even said over 6 years will not affect you or your quote.
The reps are friendly, the branch staff are friendly, but the system is broken.

When you can call one insurance company and their price is x dollars and you call the second one and their's is xxx dollars there is an issue somewhere. The lady at state farm I talked too was all smiles and she told me the price which was 900 bucks a year higher than TD.

As for TD it would be nice If they could make the online quote system better. I was pleased with the quote and even more pleased that when I called it was even less

Yes not sure why your getting the run around I did an online quote, (which I knew would be higher), with TD followed up with a call and within 20 minutes I was signed up, insurance started a few weeks later, (this was the date I chose to start coverage). not due to any "waiting on their end. I am with TD, price was about 50% of what Desjardin wanted, (with a new ticket that I reported to TD but DGI had not yet caught)...
