Where did you ride today? - New rider version

I ventured out past the block and a half radius around my house today, first time! Went down Annette between Runnymede and High Park, and even got my first nod from another rider!
SPIT YES, I want to do this every damn day.

Oh hey.
I'm right at Dundas West and Bloor. I just recently took my first ride through High Park!!! Amazing :D Keep on practicing!!!

Hard to find first?

All the way down :p

Just kidding, yeah sometimes I will be in neutral, but my light isn't on (probably between 1st and neutral I guess?) and when I let out the clutch and giver gas I just sit there revving :lmao:
slowly release the clutch till you feel a click on gear, btw hold your brakes at the same time just in case lol

Managed to ride for about 2 hours today after getting some yard work done. Rode to Stouffville and back to Scarborough for the heck of it. Great day to be out! Possibly the last nice day of the season though.

Rode all the way north on Woodbine to lake Simcoe today.
Hopefully not the last ride this season.

Nice! I should try and do that if there's another nice day this season. Was the weather any different closer to the lake?

Took the bike out of storage this weekend and rode around the block around my house to make sure everything was good to go, checked brake, chain and tire and everything, didn't go far had other things to do but man it was nice outside today!.

Up and down the length of Annette Street about 20 times. Which means I've graduated from the church parking lot. Shifting still atrocious, and my CBR250R needs to go up the gears rapidly. The manual suggests being in 4th at 40kmh so I am constantly on the clutch. Great practise, but I would love a long open stretch where I could plan the shifts and think about them, reflect on what worked, and so on. Ventured on to Dundas St. West and promptly lost track of what gear I was in as traffic slowed, decided to step down to first, traffic starts moving again, I'm getting a tad anxious, you get the picture. Having said that, the promised improvement is coming. I no longer regret moving on from my scooter, and can't wait for the coming long weekend. What's more, I think I may be ready for the RTI group ride I booked on May 4.

Furpo- keep practicing, it will come. Parking lots are your friend! I took a course 15 years ago, but just got my first bike. Riding came back real quick! Keep practicing start, shift up, shift down then stop. It makes a huge difference. Emtyx86 on YouTube shows some vids of him practicing. While the videos are his opinion, he shows some basics. At the course, they can help correct bad habits too! Ask lots of questions!!! Have fun!!

Thanks for the feedback. Those are some good, patient, videos.

Furpo my advice is get a feel for the sound. You'll eventually just know when to shift and won't have to focus on it at all. A little patience and it will just become natural

In fact take this a step further and cover up the tach with some masking tape, it forces you to learn by sound and your not always looking down at it when your eyes should be on the road.

Ha--fine idea! I have indeed been spending too much time staring at the tach worrying about 500rpms here or there. And after 80kms I am getting very familiar with the sound. I will try it this coming long, and hopefully warm, weekend.
