Yes.
Slammed the throttle on cold tires.... I did this on my 650 last winter when I bought it and rode it home. Was used to my 250... I didn't go down tho but the rear slid out a bit. It doesn't look like he eased off the gas when it started happening and it just went out from under him.
Easing off the gas is the worst thing you could do.... Your best bet is to stay smooth on the throttle. From what I've seen and read...in theory, anyway.

Easing off is okay, chopping the throttle or closing abruptly is not. Always smooth inputs.
You guys must have a far keener eye than I do, because his throttle hand looks steady throughout the crash, expect when the bikes slides out. If there was any abrupt on-off throttle input before the crash, it was very slight IMO. Do those bikes have "twitchy" fueling?
