Shoei GT Air - anyone riding with one? Care to share your opinion?

I will post any response i receive from Shoei.

Response from Shoei below

The GT-Air has an internal sun visor and the Snell Foundation does not yet approve of this style of helmet. We do however still build all of our helmets to the same safety standard if they are Snell approved or not.

I was at GP bikes this morning trying on some helmets. If the colour you want is not in stock, you can still order it tomorrow and get the no tax deal. This does not apply to the RF1100 helmet, as those are limited to whatever stock they have. I heard rumours that Shoei is going to be coming out with an RF1200 helmet shortly (which would explain the clearout on the RF1100.)

The RF1200 is up online - it's called the NXR in Europe. You can look on Revzilla to see new colour options. http://www.revzilla.com/shoei-rf-1200-helmets

The RF-1200 (with the add-on transition visor) is very very likely going to be my next helmet when my RF-1100 needs replacing.

Great looking helmet. I like that the overall shell has gotten smaller. I'm leaning toward the GT Air, or the Neotec. Modular is cool.

ha! After seeing the R1200 is so damn ugly, I love my GT AIR even more! Don't get me wrong I love the RF1100 which I also own, but this new R1200 is just not my cup of tea, the GT Air is a more advanced helmet, because I can see some of the design features used on the GT Air now being used in the RF1200.

Get he GT air guys! Unless you dont need the sun visor or pinlock shield.

Review's conclusion:
If you can swing $486.00 for the RF-1200, then surely you can go for the extra 65 bucks and get the GT Air. It has the same basic internal shape, much better ventilation and it's much quieter. Plus, it has the internal sun visor with its special design. However, it's not Snell certified...but that may be a plus to some riders.

Yes, just saw in on Revzilla, you should also mention it includes the pinlock visor PLUS the shield!

Umm...okay, but not sure I understand you. The lid comes with one clear visor, and one Pinlock insert, which a user may or may not choose to use. Is that what you mean?

yes, I was referring the insert as shield, lol. The RF1100 I got didn't come with the pinlock style visor, and I believe if I wanted to add that. I need to buy the pinlock visor plus the pinlock insert separately. But this new 1200 has both in the box, very great buy.
