Target fixation by cagers on YOU! and me ?????

Been noodling this for a while.....we all know to look where we want to go riding the twists.

I've seen this too frequently when approaching a cager on a two lane street or highway - they start to drift over toward me and then suddenly correct.

Get's annoying at times and some drift a wheel into the oncoming lane and if closing speeds are high I'm never sure they'll wake up.

Are they looking at us and unconsciously ending up driving towards us???
Then they wake up and correct..... :confused:

It's weird - wondering if others have noticed the same thing??
 
I've noticed people approach me quickly but then never pass. They stay right in my blind spot.

I hate that the most, it also happens if they're going in the same direction on a 2 lane road and they start to drift towards the outsideinside lane during a bend
 
No - not going the same direction....coming at you on a two lane and a couple hundred meters out they start drifting into your lane and then suddenly correct.
It looks just like the correction someone fixated in a corner does....the "oops"

I never ever let a vehicle sit anywhere near me at the same speed going the same direction that's not in my lane...our eyes and minds are set to notice motion and the "stationary vehicle" gets tuned out right quick. Keep some relative motion.

I ride the same speed as vehicle I'm tracking in the same lane to increase my bubble zone but never let one lock on to me from behind or either blind spot.....and some idjits do get glued there.... grrr.

Yeah, I've seen this several times. And you're right, they fixate on the approaching bike and then say, "crap! I'm out of my lane!" and correct. I'll usually move from the left tire track (on a two lane road) to the centre of the lane as I pass them. Funny though, it happens most when its a single approaching vehicle... not as much if a line of cars are following each other. Then they just fixate on the car in front of them.
Really got to be on your toes.
 
Yes exactly and with single vehicles most often. Glad someone else noticed it....makes it hard to relax on two lane with any traffic. :(
 
Bikes leaned over look cool. People drift towards what they're looking at. It's our own fault ;)
 
Yeah one guy on the QEW yesterday weaving through traffic - ****** when I moved into the fast lane as he was leaning back on the cell and driving one handed and I narrowed his gap...poor baby...I kept my distance.

MADD is a joke. It started as a sincere charity with a noble cause, it turned into a money enterprise. Last week, upon exciting a restaurant/bar, I noticed a huge bowl of breathe mints soliciting donations to MADD. Why would you buy breath mints exciting a bar? hmmm.

Studies have shown that distracted driving is worse than drink driving.

Yes.. And guys who ride with high beams encourage this even more for sure.
