Advice on exhaust and integrated tail light for CBR 1000rr

I'm looking to do some mods on my 2013 CBR 1000

1) Exhaust
2) clean up the back by getting integrated tail light and plate holder.

any recommendations, websites, best prices or approach on how/where i can see how something sounds/looks etc...

also, with regards to exhaust, there is the "cool" sound factor but also moving heat away from body.

I really like how the Taylormade exhaust looks on that bike:

Not really sure how they are in terms of quality and sound but looks wise I think that thing looks dope.
My number 1 choice would be an Akrapovic though.
 
My buddy has a 2008 1000rr and the Two-Bros exhaust is DIRTY loud and has a nice throaty deep sound profile
 
Oh dear lord, not another one... There are enough loud bikes riding with us, I'm gonna be deaf... ;)

Don't think you're gonna get any help with the heat.

having some names and parts as youve mentioned definitely help to look em up and see looks and hear sounds.

@redridernl - i know man, im not looking for loud. lol seriously. mostly going for reduced weight and better/cleaner look. and if better sound (in terms of letting cars know im there) comes with it, then great. but im not seeking loudness.

I have the taylormade on my 2008, sounds great not crazy loud but definitely better then stock,still gets pretty warm on the ankle tho.. also have taylormade fender eliminator on same bike and it really cleans it up back there... I'm not sure where ur located but your welcome to come check it out if your around Kitchener/Waterloo area..
 
^ If you get an integrated tail light any advantage you think you might get from a louder exhaust is going to be lost with reduced visibility from the tail light. I've yet to see any integrated tail light that does a better job than stock.

I was riding behind Apollo this weekend and had a difficult time noticing the stock signals. Guess I'm used to seeing integrated... The stock signals were low enough to be out of my line of sight unless I was looking for them.

@1000rr - i'd really appreciate to see the setup on your bike. im in Richmond Hill which is about 1hr from kitchener.


keep up the recommendations. i want a good spectrum of options before i decide. and really nothing compares to the experience of the members on this forum. thnx

looks mean, and looks better than akrapovic but Loud! i think my eardrums would hate me too lol
 
There are number of dyno reports on the 1000RR form point to the taylormade actually doing -2 HP over stock. This combined with the high price makes it a non-contender IMO. I really like the Leo, Arko seems to be popular as well. To each their own. For an integrated tail light, this one will wake up the texters behind you, it is very bright:

If you have thoughts of tracking the bike, don't get a Carbon Fiber slip on, they go crunch.

For a plate holder, I simply cut off the stock fender, and riveted a black aluminum plate underneath. Looks nice and clean actually. The FE kits out there were pricey for what they were IMO. Made a quick-remove plate mount out of aluminum with 2 bolts, nice for taking the plate off when going to the track. You can buy bolt LED lights for about $10 on ebay that work nicely.

It's going to be hard to get away from loud compared to the stock systems sewing machine quietness. I'm not a fan of the Taylormade due to shotty quality.
Don't plan on gaining power by changing just the exhaust.
Akro and Yosh make nice looking/sounding slip-ons for this bike. Both will be fairly loud.
I recommend a fuel-controller as well if you change the exhaust as your power curve will likely be significantly off after the change.
 
My friend installed a Yosh slip-on on his 2008 1000RR, (-he didn't use a power commander or other fuel controller, though). He went back to stock because the bike was faster that way...

And I agree with the negative comments about Taylormade build quality, too.
 
some exhausts come with a baffle/db killer (the leo does). I just leave it out. I'm sure the neighbors don't like it, its loud, but not crazy loud. At least when your beside a car, they don't just start to swerve like the stock exhaust. You can always just remove the bypass servo, so the stock pipe has the same volume as when the servo opens at 4K rpm. Its simply unhooking the wire (really simple). I did that for a while, but ran into an issue with the stock exhaust melting my tire warmers at the track (the clearance between the tire and the cat is quite small), so I had to change it. Although the fueling is better with the slip on for sure. No power commander here, she is plenty quick.

so i would need to make further mods to rebalance and regain lost power?

man i wish i had more mechanical knowledge. I love this stuff, but don't know nearly as much as i would like.

ok so far i've decided to hold off on the exhaust.

although the jardine looks good 09-2011, but hasn't yet developed one for 2013. so maybe if i wait next year they'll have one for my bike.

as for tail light. the blaster X was recommended and im gonna order it. also gonna go with hotbodies kit with textured black.
