Broken ankle ... ends my riding season

Sorry to hear that! And you were just breaking in that bike, damn...

If it serves for any consolation, I'll post a lot of my travels and tag you on them as if you were riding with me haha :-p

GWS!

Lucky I took a couple of trips with it already ... 2 500km's on that brand new bike ..

I look forward to OUR trips together :) :) :)

Looking forward to reading your posts next season on how to start a bike after a long period of storage.

I have lots of people who want to take it out for rides ... I might consider letting them to avoid the long ... long storage period ... LOL

Always look at the bright side. Spend more quality time on GTAM. Whenever something bad happens to me that prevents me from doing something I love I always think this is probably the year I was going to die doing what I love. I know it's a great cliche but that's all it is. One time at band camp a piano fell on me. I couldn't play the trombone for all summer. That was probably the summer somebody would have laid a severe beating on me. Silver lining.

What exactly did you break? talus, calcaneous, tibia, fibula? Or did you rip some ligaments? Are you in a cast? Did you get plaster or scotchcast (much lighter)? How long did the doc say you will be immobile?

sucks, I've been there. I once messed up my ankle playing basketball, took like 2 months to recovery. I think it was broken, at the time i thought it was a ****ed up sprain; I didn't go to the doctor.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. If you get a really bad itch, maybe get a scooter and at least you can be on 2 wheels without needing to use your ankle. Look forward to hearing that you're back on the road.

Ripped some tendons .. and ligaments which tore chunks of my bone off where they connect .. ankle and foot area ... painful ... but will heal

Tough break, literally. Tendons and ligaments don't heal as quickly as a broken bone. Did the doc say if surgery would speed up your healing? Once you can weight bear you can try the Burgman. You'll still be in the wind but no shifting, unfortunately.

Its getting more and more difficult to walk by my bike in the underground on the way to my truck .... I really miss riding already. I tried to fill the gap by going helmet shopping yesterday as I obviously cant use mine when I can ride again ...but that just made me miss riding more .. that and I couldn't find a helmet I liked between gp and royal in whitby. Where else should I go to get a fairly large selection of helmets? I really need one that cuts wind noise .... my hjc fit well but was loud!

I broke my leg Dec 26, bolted back together and walked out of hospital Feb 9. Slowly but it's amazing what the human body can heal.

You may get some incredible fall rides in. DO YOUR PHYSIO!!! And eat pineapple.

get some tall stiff race boots, tape the hell out of your ankle and get back on.

i know a guy who was riding with a burnt foot and had glass stuck behind the stitches.
also know a guy who got screws put in his ankle and rode home...although hid dad was a doctor and called him a dumbass as he fired up the bike.

Ear plugs are the only solution, all helmets are loud but some more than others.
