Official Android Only Apps + Q&A!!!!

Hey guys,

Yes i know there is other forums dedicated to Android, but can be too much for some folks, just thought i would help fellow bikers.

I made the switch to Android OS(phone only). So i thought it would be cool to make a thread dedicated to Android for you to enjoy and learn everything the OS has to offer.
As for me, I started using this OS late September, so i am new to this OS, but i put a lot of effort and hours learning so much about this OS, it was kinda fun for me.
I was basically learning all there is to know about Rooting and such, which is LEGAL, although starting next year early 2013, rooting tablets and unlocking devices will be ILLEGAL(please take to google for further info).

I chose to Root my device, because you can get rid of bloatware, Ads, Carrier Stuff, etc.
You can google why to Root or someone can explain further.

I will keep updating my posts as they come to mind or from what others will suggest.

There will be different App selections, as some can be System Apps and Useful Productive Apps, and Fun Apps.

I reserved the next couple of posts to use(so keep checking them for updates).

More Apps coming soon!!!

If you need XBMC for Android, here you go. But you must know if your device is Neon or Non-Neon.

This dude have 3 videos on his channel to help you understand XBMC. Addons must be in .zip

Just ordered the Galaxy SIII. A bit overwhelmed with it all. Can you point me to a good forum to get started?

Thank you! Just got the phone and am feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Right now I'm just concerned with little things, like how do I get my facebook (or email) notifications (ie. similar to the red star that showed on my blackberry) to show up.

Never had a blackberry(only overnight), but you must remember that button on the bottom left, it is your MENU Button(settings) for each APP...where you will find settings for that App, in which those Apps you mentioned will show you various settings, and also a Notification setting.

Keep asking about anything, we will help.

A quicker response though, is either a google search or youtube your question for a video tutorial....but also ask here for verification if still confused.

For Email, you should really have a Gmail.

Okay I have gmail and got that set up. But when I went to email a tweet it asked me to set up my email again?

I notice there is a gmail app as well as an email app. If I set up the email app as well wouldn't I just be duplicating the emails I receive (ie. I would receive them in both the gmail app and the email app?)

Yes. I disabled my email app and use the Gmail one only. I ran both for a while to see which one I liked better.

Ok, I'll bite..... I have a Nexus 7

Here's a very small list of my favorite apps
Animated Weather (weather widget with clock for home screen)
Asphalt 7 (great racing game)
BetterThanExpected Wallpapers (live wallpaper. Automatically download wallpaper from reddit and cycle through them)
ES File Explorer File Manager (File Explorer)
GyroSpace 3D Free (cool 3D live wallpaper)
Lookout Security & Antivirus (Anti-virus and "find my device" service)
Nova Launcher (replaced the stock launcher with this one)
Perfect Viewer (Comic book and DPF viewer)
Pixlr Express (Manipulate your pictures, think Photoshop)
SwiftKey 3 Tablet Keyboard (replaced my keyboard with this great one)
Wifi Analyzer (self explanatory)

How do I disable my email app?

If I disable it will I still be able to email tweets?

Never worry about having to put your fone on silent at work. Just program your location & it becomes automatic

so here is my droid issue.

Iphone4s send audio through BT (voice, siri and nav)
however my samsung s3 can only handle call audio through BT.

I have figured out why kind of, but cant find an app for that...

my car's ancient BT is the problem, however I just need to figure out how to force the android phone to send out S-voice and Nav in the same protocol as regular call audio.

any suggestions?

BT mono and those apps work, but dum it down to mono. So everything sounds *****...so not a perfect solution.

very happy to have made the switch, droid kicks IOS ***...
