Penn run August long weekend

I know it's close but before you head down to PA or anywhere in the states there are two things you should cover off and you can get both from CAA

Health Insurance and CAA Plus for motorcycle. from CAA is cheap and could save your financial future.

$75 or so for a year coverage which includes 15 days total travel ( I suspect you can buy more ). 2 days of health is about $12

Now some credit cards also cover you ( check first - you may have to use it for gas ) but what ever you do have some coverage -just an ambulance ride there is a ball breaker and hospital starts at $1000 a day and up.
Getting your bike back is a chore as well.

Just got back from Coudersport, Renovo area, 144/44, Wycoff run...all great roads. Stayed at Paul's in Coudersport, cheap and cheerful as MacDoc said. Fezz's diner was great too!
Just wanted to say watch out for the deer in the area. Yesterday I had 2 close calls. Really close. 2 pm and 4 pm, so not like it was dusk when you would expect to see them.

That's good info - wonder why more day time deer - that's of concern cuz the place is loaded with them. Elk too in some areas.
Glad you had a good ride.

One reason people like Paul's Motel beside location and price is the bikes are right outside the rooms and the units are set well back from the highway ( you can see from the photo of the trolls how far back ) The first two pictures on Day 2

A cover never hurts as it's often foggy and coming out to a soaked bike is no fun.

I think in general the small towns people are friendly and appreciate the biz the bikers bring into a rural area.

gcrouse where is Kinza fire road.....are you talking the one leading to the downed bridge??
when u approach the dam from the west it is right on you right hand side before crossing the bridge.. let me see if i can find a google map for it it may go under another name but wow what a rode stay tuned

Are bikes safe to leave unattended over night in these small PA town (i.e. Coudersport, St. Mary's, Wellsboro, etc)? Or do you need a lock and cover?

Outside of most big cities: Toronto, New York, Buffalo, .....I find most places are safe. Not all the world is full of crooks and thieves.

Get out the greater Toronto area and enjoy the better parts of the world.

As for a cover: for what?? Something extra to carry! Use the bathtowel to wipe off the seat, dash and grips and go. Or take your own rag and/or shamie.

MacDoc, what route are you taking down to Renovo from Buffalo or which ever border crossing you typically choose?

219 probably more interesting and there is 240 in between as an alternative as well

Both 16 and 219 give the same distance from Buffalo. Go down one and back the other.
