In case you did not read your bike's manual yet - it is not made of sugar and last time I checked neither are humans. So ride every chance you get (even if it rains) - if you do it properly you will be much better rider

Never any kids for me.. its usually men yelling "Hey!!" or something else as I go by their window before coming to stop at a light.. I dont stick around to chat though
Speaking of that, the very first time that I went out on the roads, I just went to a parking lot 5 km (maybe not even) away. And as I was parking, there were two guys came up and said "is it a ninja? nice bike!" (seperate events.)
Your bike is sexy so be prepared to be checked out a lot. lol!

i did my first riding in the rain last saturday, got caught on highway and it was pretty heavy , but short . i was riding 2up and 140km/hr , traffic slowed down to 80km/hr . bike handled pretty good , i also think being 2up (more weight on tires) helped to control the bike easier , i listened to weatherman afew times at the beginning of the season and dissappointed , so i just look outside and if its not a storm or snowing , im on the bike for sure....
If avoiding getting wet is really important to me (which is seldom - usually only when it's cold and wet do I care) I check this site. Easy to figure out where or if it's likely to rain in the next couple of hours.
By now after several years of riding I have all kind of gear pretty much for any weather. But in my first year - rain coat, pants, gore-tex boots and rubber gloves did just fine. And I do enjoy riding in the rain. This season my car is parked since early spring - we only drive my wife's car almost every Sun when we need to get somewhere with our dogs (visit family, hike in the forest or park).
Not saying everyone should ride in any weather but everyone should know and have experience riding in the rain (unless you live in rainless place and never plan to leave it).

I agree. I can't say I don't enjoy riding in the rain, it's just not my first choice. On that note I just picked up a one piece Rev'it rainsuit, glorious piece of kit. The 25 year old rainsuit finally gave up.

this year I am in real luck on Held gear. I got new gloves and boots (perforated) and for occasional rain day when I don't want to wear my waterproof jacket and don't want to get wet I got Held rain jacket - it is awesome. Now looking to pick matching pants as my old ones started to leak.
And speaking of choice - riding in the rain is not my first choice too but if it rains I just try to enjoy as much as I can. I like it to a certain degree (certainly don't like heavy pour) but kind of trying to make lemonade out of rain lemon
Was not a try - I am a happily married man and don't really care for your pic. I was just trying to emphasize RedDogDarren point - female on bike/scooteer, etc usually gets +5 points and "hey, nice wheels" from males. And I don't do group rides with strangers

I am sorry if I offended you - I really did not mean too. And if you decide to commute downtown on your bike - PM me, I'll be happy to help you navigate morning rush couple of times. I am on vacation now but will be back next week or week after. I commute from around Don Mills and Finch to CN Tower

Actually I was thinking about commuting downtown so that I could get more practice. I'm going down this weekend to get a feel of it first. When I decide to do it I'd be happy to have your help. Much appreciate it.
Oh and I would be commuting from around Yonge & Sheppard to Bay & Front so our route is roughly the same.

Sounds good. Wed usually works best for me (more relaxed schedule). Let's shoot for week after next week - we'll meet in the middle and head downtown. I suggest Don Mills route as early as you can handle - we'll work out details in PM later.
