They are all crazy fast, who cares which one gets to 200 mph that much faster. No one will be tapping that speed or potential on the street anyways.
Needless complexity requiring solid engineering is probably the best way to describe German products, which was probably the key to the S1000rr's success. BMW didn't waste effort on a goofy boxer engines/shaft drives/assorted gizmos--they carefully improved upon a Japanese concept.
As for quality, next time you see a brand new car with a burned out tail lamp (or burning oil) tell me it's NOT an Audi or Volkswagen.

The problem may also cause the engine to leak oil directly in front of the rear wheel, potentially reducing traction.

+1 Are we speaking of melandri himself here? Or all the little Italian mechanics he brought with him from yamaha to spruce up that bike as BMW got rid of their German mechs? lol
