Anybody know of a good route from Toronto to Midland?

if you want direct/fastest (non rush hour), 400 north to 99 or 93 to Midland.
If you senic, I often go up Lakeridge from Pickering/Ajax, over to 12 and north through Orillia and carry on on 12 (does a jog on 11 I think) to Midland. But check a map for exact details as I haven't been there since last June but will be there on Saturday.... but then again the GPS will help me with the highways # I don't remember.

I head up to Awenda Park every few weeks and for a combination of fast and scenic I go this way when I want to avoid the highway.
Otherwise as mentioned, the run around the east side of Lake Simcoe is also nice, but just takes longer.

I am doing the same route from the west side of Toronto and the default non-highway from google is to use 27 so wondering how the weston/sideroad 5 route you are suggesting compares vs airport road/27 which is a few "blocks" over? Less traffic? Better scenery?
