Hey guys not sure where to post this

Yesterday morning I got rear ended by a car just as i was stopping.
I broke the left transverse process off my L2-L3 vertebrae (short term at least 6weeks long term don't know)among other more mild things.
the main part of my concern is that I am self employed and do contract work in the film industry I also buy reno and sell houses. I have a house now just waiting to close, now i can't do any preclose work or do plans etc add to that I am mid point on my own basement reno too. I have a major amount of lost time and wages etc that can't be calculated.
never mind the bike was my transportation

I think the best thing to do for me and my family is to get a lawyer because if I don't i feel the insurance company will walk all over this case

so long and short I'm looking for advice on a lawyer with experience in this situation so i can start trying to figure this out

Seeing a lawyer is the right thing to do, though I can't offer you a recommendation.

Do yourself a favour and don't post anything more about this. Keep it off the internetz, and do your talking in a court, with your lawyer.

100% agreed. You got rear-ended, so as long as you weren't charged with anything, definitely get a lawyer to help you with your insurance claim.

I just went thru what your about to go thru. Its Not a fun time. It took me 8 years to get paid. I had income coming in from LTD and CPP but it never comes close to what you were making. I was lucky as I had a VERY good benefit package at work. I will keep my pension and continue with my benefits till death. Being self employed either I hope you took one out on yourself or you have a **** load of cash tucked away. Your going to need it as its not a quick process. They will go Thru everything about your life from the time you were in grade 3 on. Make sure you have your T-4 from the begining of your work life. I knew a guy that was self employed who was in physio with me and he "claimed less income to pay less taxes" and that cost him Lots of $$$$$. He was cheating the system which was good for the time being but as soon as it was time to settle he got Foocked. In no way am I saying that you have done anything wrong, I'm just letting you know that no stone goes unturned. Then you have to deal with the defences Dr. who will write report after report claiming that you can go back to work as they are paid by them. I had herniated discs, walked hunched over with a cane, have chronic back pain and was on 320mg of OXYcontin just to take the Edge off of the pain and everyone of their Dr. said i was ok to return to work. 10 years later i am still not working. Good Luck. Dont let this scare you but be prepared. I went with a lawfirm out of Hamilton so I dont think that will help you. PM me if you want their name. they are VERY,VERY, good, but it does take time.

About 6 yrs ago I was hit head-on by a van. I went with ThomsonRogers (Bay/Richmond) who are one of, if not the biggest, personal injury law firms in Ontario. Darcy Merkur was my lawyer, but now he's a partner so not sure if he still does these little cases. Their fee was about 25% of my total settlement amount, which was more than fair considering how aggressive they are and they got me about 8x what the insurance company was offering as their final offer.

The whole process took about 18 months from date of collision. I was insured with Jevco and they took reasonably good care of me and my needs. They did things by the book and did not attempt to cheat me out of anything I was legally entitled to. Not sure it works when you are self employed, but I was off work for 10 months due to the accident. I used the firm to reach settlements with both my insurance company and the insurance company of the driver who hit me.

Definitely work alongside a lawyer. If you have any long term injuries you will need to have someone watching out for you.

Sorry to hear about your mishap, hope you get better sooner than later and PM me if you have any questions.
Cheers.
