Looking for a pro to do this for me in the GTA, Hamilton or Niagara area. Any recommendations? Preferably non-dealership.

Was quoted $140 by Clarescycle (Suzuki dealership) in my area but I honestly will not let them touch my bike, don't think they're up for the task.

Thanks.

Dirt cheap is an understatment.
I dont think any shop will touch it for that price. From the time they wheel it in and back out they would have to only charge $40.00 p/hr shop rate before taxes to make that work.
$140 for valve check/adjustment is dirt cheap....something does not sound right here...

If thats the case then get it in there ASAP.
I would be very supprised if you find it cheaper anywhere else for a complete valve check and adjustment even from a cash deal. Did you get a quote from Dan at Heritage??
They charge $60 / hour and told me it would take 2 hours and change to have it done.

Yeah sorry I didn't include tax just how long they said it would take for my bike and for the complete package (Check/Adjust). An hour to check and an hour and half to adjust the valve.

I did contact him, what he quoted me was significantly, jaw dropping more than what the dealership quoted me. :( From personal experience I would have figured it would be the other way around.

EDIT: On another note I did the check today myself, took me 4 hours and everything is within spec, a couple getting pretty close but I can still ride it for a little while. I don't feel confident enough to adjust the valves myself so I bolted her back up. Going to keep looking to see if I can get someone good to do it for $250 as that's all I can afford right now and if I can't then I'll have to let the dealership do it but I'll be watching them as I don't think they're up to the task -- especially this one.

That's an insane deal. When Markham Power Sports quoted my GF on a complete valve check and adjust they quoted 2 hours, but we found out that was just for the check, depending on how many need adjusted it was more. Turned out to be 5 hours labour.

5 x $93 = $465

Use caution if they quoted you 2.

Yes and I think they left out that if you need to change out any of the shims to make the adjustments the part price for them as well.

If you were able to check clearance no problem then you're already 90% of the way to adjusting them. Just remove the chain tensioner(s), wire tie the cam to the cam chain, move the cam out of the way, pull the bucket, swap whatever shim you need, reinstall (making sure to check the timing) and then recheck the clearance. Now that you know your clearance values you can just buy whatever new shims you need and avoid having to pick up a full shim kit.
