Was planning to reassemble an engine tonight, but just realized Ive ran out of assembly lube. So Im looking for a walk in source where I can go buy it that has some in stock, dont really want to have to order it...

Any ideas? CT?

have you tried performance improvement? or NAPA? Napa has some good stuff.....

ATF trans oiL for cylinder walls....and 30 weight oil!? woudn't that work just fine?

are you looking for some of that molly based lube stuff? or the liquid looking stuff?

I wonder how this would do?http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brow...a+Lube+Upper+Cylinder+Lubricant.jsp?locale=en

Amsoil makes it now. Maybe check with Amsoil dealers and see if anyone has some.

I picked up a bottle at Cameron Cycle last year when I was in there. They have bottles for their own work, but they sold me one. I was in same boat as you and needed it right away.

Bought it from Amsoil, tried to PM you but your box is full. Let me know if you want it!

If it was my CRF 50 engine or a engine I dont really care about too much then Id just use regular oil. This is a complete rebuild from the cases up with a new knife edged and race balanced crank, so I want to make sure all the crank bearing journals are well lubed for the initial start up. The assembly lube is much more sticky, and stays in place when turning the engine end over end while assembly. Regular oil tends to just run out of where it needs to be, and upon initial start up can cause the bearings to run dry until oil pressure and flow builds up....

I just blew one 09 ZX6R engine, dont want this one to pop right away....ugggggggh! Stick with your 636! These 09+ engine can't take half the beating those motors did...

Most of them are a thick transparent red color

I am a bit amazed with this 636 actually. I was super bored of this bike this summer.....put 20K touring kms, went through the heat in NYC overheating it , and deals gap etc etc...and drag race days W/hot lapping it...and ZERO issues.....every time I take her out she hits redline....and ZERO issues...

my biggest issue is finding a spare motor or cases/parts to build a spare motor.....so I kinda see why this is a good platform...

I gave my 636 motors hell via rev limiter bouncing in the stunt bikes...They would last me 1-2 seasons, and Ive only actually blown 2, Ive been through about 5 but others were due to the cylinder head cracking from crashing, not the actual motor blowing up. Swap the head and the bottom end goes for another few rounds...

I just started to convert my 09 over to my full time stunt bike, I brought it to the practice spot twice. Half an hour into my 2nd session on it and I spun crack bearings......This does not look good for future reliability, I have a bad feeling Im going to be popping these motors on the regular...

No because I otherwise love the bike completely besides the motor....If they were still using the old 636 motor I think this bike would be the perfect bike for me and Id keep riding it for years to come just like the 636...Ive had mine since 04
