That time of year

Slightly slick roads after light drizzle..plus leaf crap...+ cooler mornings= brand new sensation for me.

Couple of small drifts yesterday and today. I've had rear wheel and front wheel slides before but usually with braking. Yesterday had the nice sideways sensation going round a corner but the wheel smoothly gained traction and all was fine. A car had nicely managed to coat the whole road with a fine layer of oil brought to the surface with a bit of rain so that must have helped. Felt a small front wheel one today which wasn't so nice so I guess there's still a bit of oil out there.

Anyhoo...be careful out there...with the change in weather, cooler mornings and leaf litter things can get a little less grippy.

Ah yes, that reminds me of my first season riding in cooler weather. ...well 2nd season actually, after I had gained enough confidence to be mildly aggressive and learned that it needed to be toned down a notch or ten when the cold weather arrived.

This is a timely reminder, and a warning to the newbies.

Yup, cold tires lose a lot of traction below 10degrees. Don't forget wet streetcar tracks are like ice

Be careful out there

Also if your rear slides out on you EASE off the throttle, Don't just fully let off.
My buddy highsided last year around this time due to this.

Got to admit...rear wheel was fun...front wheel...not so much. And this is season 3 over here for me but this hasn't happened before I think the beater that went down the road before me happily spewing oil all over the road might have had something to do with it.

This. This is the time of year streetcar tracks are especially bad. Both time Ive almost bit it on tracks were in the mid-late fall.

Awww, I thought you were taking a bath. Well, maybe next year.

You have to admit though that viewing the leaves changing as you cruise through the twisties is awesome.
Just don't miss a turn and end up in the bush, as you'll be hard to find.

Yup, last October I low sided on tracks running 45º across the lane I was making a left turn into. Front wheel slipped right out from under me
