Paul- I'm surprised you made it to whatever age you are with this logic....how is lane filtering the same as putting someone in the hospital ? Don't worry about answering, you probably won't get it right anyway.

Lane Splitting: Passing a vehicle in it's own lane.

Filtering: When traffic is stopped (or moving very slowly) at lights, etc. and motorbikes or scooters 'filter' their way towards the front of the queue by passing between or beside vehicles. I've also heard it referred to as 'Yellow-lining' or something similar.

Do you let cars make a right turn if they come up behind you at a stop light? You're completely full of s*** if you say no and it falls into the same category.

I have no problem with that and I encourage it if it's done safely as it stops congestion. How can a motorcyclist defend somebody trying to run another rider off the road as retaliation for something so insignificant? Seriously...

Actually that's not the same thing, at all. It is both provided for, in the HTA and done by cars, for cars.

It's also usually limited to one or two positions at most and involving vehicles that are expecting that move, and the end result of that move does not finish with you now rudely sitting in front of the cars that let you by on the right.

I'm pretty sure that would fall under lane sharing by definition, if they're sharing the lane with you to make the turn, no?

Anyways, I think lane filtering is quite safe until some righteous ******* tries to prove a point. Lane splitting in moving traffic could be relatively safe too if drivers paid attention to what's around them. But that's not gonna happen in Ontario is it. Where people with other view points (and first hand knowledge of better driving laws) are told to "go back to Mongolia". Wow...that's so clever.

Regardless, what the cop did to prove a point was a pathetic display from somebody who is employed to serve and protect. I wish the OP had captured that on video! I'm going to buy a cam this winter just for city riding so when idiots pull crap like that there's proof.

I tend to agree with u here. I think lane filtering is pretty safe, however lane splitting could be dangerous, I wouldent try this one, my opinion. Speaking of cams I would love to record any particular setup? Or any videos on how to set up the cam?
 
it's not "aloud" bfd, so let me guess none of u go faster then the posted limit? didnt think so. I filter like crazy it is not a big deal for anyone except me getting a ticket. I am not endangering or inconveniencing anyone I move to the front of the line and as previously mentioned I'm gone b4 the car even starts rolling. Lane splitting is a bit different I don't/haven't done it cause there is a danger factor to both the rider and driver. Obviously depending on the situation it could not be dangerous at all I know. As for it being rude give me an f in break that is such bs.
If you don't do it good for you, if cant do it(cars) sucks for you(shoulda got a bike:lmao:) and if you can and do(without endangering or inconveniencing) I'm sure you will be home having tea and crumpets while the others are still sitting in traffic lol

ya i know this thread is getting very repetitive and you will have your views and we will have ours but hey thats what makes the world go round we would get board if we all thought a like... unless you all thought like me cause I'm awesome ahhahaha
