It appears this dirt bike is what the American special forces are using in Afghanistan.

I am just trying to figure out how the AWD on it works...

Wow, clearly there have been budget cuts, because they used to have these:

Then again, they only needed one.

In any case, dirt bikes are perfect for doing an Al-Qeada drive by.

Looks like a really well put together machine.Wonder why they didn't put a big tank on it?

On a slightly more serious note for IPSIC and military folks on the board, do they really shoot and ride? The CIA guy arrested in Pakistan for shooting two robbers on motorcycles said they were armed and that seems like it would take a bit of training for muggers. Since most people are right handed, are we talking "clutch, draw, shoot, holster, throttle" here or do they have magnetic holsters on the tanks?

There are some rally car places in the US that train SO drivers, but motorbikes are not on their course sheets. :( Makes sense they would have bikes since they are no more conspicuous or vulnerable than being on foot or on horse/camel back.

Would have been cool to have joined up in my early 20's as by the time you realize how awesome it would be, life's various obligations get in the way.

For anyone curious about the CIA story referenced by GentlemanRacer it can be found here: http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/raymo...g-cia-contractor-blackwater/story?id=12964133

If hypothetically they were to use the dirt bikes to carry out an attack they might 2up as the drug cartels do in some countries. I recall an episode of Deadliest Warrior where they demonstrated how they'd 2up on a dirt bike, ride up to the target, then the passenger spray the hell out of a person or vehicle with an Uzi.

In real life however I would imagine the Americans they don't do very much if any shooting from the dirt bikes. It is probably more about transportation to or from wherever they need to be. It would not surprise me though if the special forces guys are expected to have decent aim with their non-dominant hand in the event their preferred arm is incapacitated.

Skyrider, unless the company execuctives are clueless, they must have a patent on it. So, they're either unwilling to license it or waiting for someone to pay what they want for a license.
