Since you said the best tire "out there" and not in "North America"..... the Dunlop SportSmart gets my vote.
Everybody makes a big deal about the Q2s, but every review and test I've read state the newer, fresher designed SportSmart is better.
Why Dunlop won't bring them here is beyond me....but the rest of Europe and UK get to use these excellent tires.

Unless you track ride, any supersport tire is a huge wasteof $. Coming from someone who used to waste money on sticky rubber to ride around public streets in Ontario all the time.
Today's sport touring tires are as sticky as supersport tires were 8-10 yrs ago, and last 2-3x as long......at roughly the same price as a set of supersport tires as well, so your money actually goes twice to three times as far.

After one mile of riding, I am afraid your track take off's are no where near their ideal operating temperature.....where they are engineered to offer optimum grip.
A good sport touring tire would offer loads more grip in that same 1st mile....regardless of how soft the compound feel to you and your fingernail.
I'm a Q2 fan. Last 2 sets (on a 08 CBR 1k, which eats them pretty good if your hard on the throttle) did about 4500km each on avg, including a mix of 80% street, 10% track (2 days each set) and a week at deals gap on one set.
Great tire, but its like a swiss army knife, good at a lot of things, but not good at one thing in particular. Not enough grip on those 30 degree track days where slicks are awesome, and wear a bit too fast on the street. Call it an entry level track tire. This is why I'm going to 2 sets of rims, one with something more streety with good mileage/occassional rainy track day, the other race slicks. All around its excellent for what you can do with a single set of tires for the $$, but you won't be dissapointed with any of the main brands.

Really don't like the Pures. They flex so much, and the center compound is hard as a hockey puck after a while. Dislike the way they want commitment from the rider or don't work.
I'm much happier with Q2s. I have 5500km on the rear Q2 which includes about 2000km at the Gap. Still looks good. I will likely stick with them until I find something better... the Pirellis are apparently a better tire but more expensive and last less long.

Really been hearing a lot of disappointment about these ones. Such a shame. Michelin usually makes great tires.

Agree. Plus they're usually going to be crap in the rain/cold no matter what.
