Black fluid under gear shifter

I was cleaning my bike and I noticed black fluid just under the gear shifter...I cleaned it fully...3 days later I check it out again and I noticed a drop of black fluid...

It looks like the fluid is dripping from under the gear shifter. Any idea what might cause this?

What kind of chain lube do you use?

probably dirty excess chain lube.
Its probably black and a bit sticky and usually runs down right where the drive sprocket would be.

Or the output shaft seal on the transmission..worst case.

take out the front sprocket cover and clean..... a lot of gunk builds up there... it's possible enough collected and it slowly slithering it's way to the bottom. I've made a habit of cleaning that area at the end of every season.
