And that was my understanding as well. However i got insurance last year and i had 1 ticket on my record. Paid 111 per month. Renewal time came and it stayed the same but my ticket has gone off record and no change, still 111 a month. I called them and they told me that there is no change, and that they cant put me on the A plan unless i have a car with them...Yes, one item on your abstract does make a difference with SF. 1-2 items are treated equally. A "preferred" rate is given to those with 0 item on their driving abstract. I don't believe they insure riders with more than 2 current items on an abstract.

seems fishy to me...
That makes sense -- to qualify for the A-Plan you probably need to have a car insured with them AND be conviction free. If you are on a stand-alone bike, then you are confined to the B-Plan.
Also, FYI:

That was not my understanding. I've been with SF for a few years now, and conversations with my agent has led me to believe I will get the preferred rate when my one ticket falls off my abstract. I think the exact conversation was "we can offer the "A" plan only to conviction free riders".
But I'm sure that when it comes time to renew next year I will be told "I misunderstood" or the policy with SF has changed, or some other nonsense. I will be confined to the "B" plan until I pay more, get less, and expect nothing in return.
EDIT : Wow, do I sound bitter!

Viffer, you are correct, that's exactly how it is.
