House music lovers!

the links help and yes it is a bit mainstream, but good dancefloor stuff still... - you might find more of that sound if you search for 'filtered disco house'...

Todd terry has produced lot's of cool tunes over the years.

I like that stuff when used sparingly in between other stuff that takes the mainstream edge off it. Occasionally I'll throw in a tune like that set against other stuff that is far more dark and techno sounding or against something tribal etc...

are we ever going to get a chance to see Shane Kingsley live????

I used to play out a lot, but not too much time anymore. I work too early in the morning on Mondays to play late nights anymore - too bad, because I'm much better live with a bumpin' crowd at 4am doing a marathon set...

I prefer to play at charity parties - so if there's a worthwhile cause and the crowd likes this sort of stuff, then I might be up for it. I used to throw parties under the moniker SoulShack - and we raised good money for lots of different kids charity's.

QUICK, somebody think of a worthy cause to get Shane on the decks for a live set....my reasons are purely selfish, so someone with a charitable heart has to take care of this one:D

There's a bunch of other remixes of this tune. I had the original on vinyl but it was always a bit weaksauce for my tastes so I never played it much. Grant Nelson's remix sounds better and most stuff he remixes is good big room stuff too. He has done some sweet remixes of Jamiroquai too. Not to mention that the dude has produced some sick drum n bass from the early 90's too under the name Wishdokta, of which I have tons. Dude is a legend.

And that Dennis Ferrer tune posted earlier got me thinking... I have so many of his tunes and Kerri Chandlers. So I did a set of their stuff their other day. It's on my site and called NewYorkDeep.

Exactly. I have so much respect for anyone who can mash-up or remix a decent track and turn it into a classic.

But I love it when it's already a classic (like Aly Us' "Follow Me") and it gets remixed into other classics. Just out of curiosity, what's your favourite version of that one?

I like the original the best. It holds the most value and versatility in a set. And because it's the original, it never sounds cheese (IMO) and can be worked into most other styles. The instrumental beginning and end make for some good mixing as well as the middle of the tune. I remember buying that tune when it first came out on vinyl and was thinking that the dude couldn't sing, but it still was such a great sounding tune and totally fresh for it's time.
That said, you might like the 'full intention mix' if you haven't heard it.

one club that i loved that didn't get mentioned was SONIC....those hardwood floors and the sound system in there was amazing!

some of my most memorable nights there were Green Velvet, Sneak, Hodges, Farina, Carter, Heather, Collette and the very last dj i ever saw there was VonStroke...i miss that place:(
