Thanks to all of you who showed up to the the Yamaha Demo tour on Aug 13 @ Brampton PowerSports. In this thread I would love to hear about your experiences in regards to how you felt the event went. What you liked and didn't like, what you think could have gone better. If you came to the last demo tour we would like to know how you felt it compared. How friendly and interactive were the Yamaha and PowerSports staff? What did you think of our giant showroom and bike selection?! And anything else you can think of! Thanks!

Misses - # of bikes or having multiple models (not a big deal though, just is nicer) Don't switch riders on bikes because someone says they seen this person ride so you give them the bike to ride even though they don't meet license requirements. Don't let people ride without proper gear (guy was wearing a t-shirt, another had no gloves) You have policies, enforce them. I left at 12, wasn't sure if there was a BBQ or not, but a BBQ is always nice.

Hits - Getting to ride what I wanted. Route was shorter but I liked it better as you can get more rides in. Wait times between rides was not long. I see BPS rearranged the floor, the Yamaha bikes were closer to the front. That was neat, to promote the models so people don't have to walk all around looking for them (there was a raider, stryker, R1, R6 as soon as you walked in) Also, the bikes on the side walk outside just like the Suzuki Demo Day was good to see. I like that they set the bikes up on the other side, eliminated the riding through the center where there was a bit of sand etc. Bikes under the tents was much appreciated as the seats were not hot. Registration was nice to have on that patio to the side of the door, didn't have to stand in line, most people sat on the curb. Girl remembered me from the Suzuki Demo Day. Key chains and kickstand coasters were nice to get.

Recommendations - Maybe have a staff member take photos of each rider going out on the bike and post it on the website. Maybe a draw that day for some small prizes, gift certificates, memorabilia (hats, shirts)

Overall, I appreciate that there are Demo Days :happy3:

I was there for a bit but then left without riding anything.
I was at the suzuki demo day and dispite the big turn out at that, I still got to ride the gsxr 1000.
I currently have a 750 and a 1000cc was the only option I was interested in.
Since the R1 was not apart of the demo day, it was not worth me taking time to ride a bike that I had no interest in while causing someone who may be interested in purchasing that bike not be able to ride it.

The store was nicely setup since the Suzuki demo ride.
The staff seemed much more attentive to people milling about.

The Suzuki demo was much better to me but the experience inside the store was much better at the Yamaha one.

Thanks a lot for the comments guys, keep them coming. I am glad to hear that BPS did a better job than last time this time round. By chance did they bring out the Megaphone? I had told them that that would be wise because peoples comments from the Suzuki demo tour had said that that would have helped.

Just to let you folks know, we are in the process of creating a Demo day video gallery. One of the Brampton PowerSports employees took a mounted camera on both Suzuki and Yamahas demo run, so keep a look out for the videos on our website and see if you can spot yourself! Hopefully that will be up next week!

Wasn't really needed, not a big turnout.

Wow, you must think be very smart by buying a bike without test driving it, and then telling everyone about it. For the rest of us, you know, I guess we are stupid, so we want to compare the bikes in the same category first (i.e. R6, GSXR, CBR, ZX6R). But of course, everyone else is a dreamer. For me personally, after going to Kawi demo last year, Honda and Suzuki demos this year, and riding my friends' Suzuki and Kawasaki bikes, it gave me a lot more information than "oh, I want this bike because I read about it and my friends say it's cool" and helped me make an informed decision. D'oh.

ne because im a yamaha guy. My brother was a sales manager so i totaly trust my local dealer. All the bikes in my family have been yamaha. brothers have 00 and 04 R6 iv got 08. Im not a fan of GSXR, CBR, ZX6R they are a dime a dozen and just dont do it for me. I wanted an agressive bike more of a track bike for the road and the R6 is the only one that does that for me. I would not give up my bike for any of the other 3. When i stop at a light i ALWAYS have other riders of gixxers, cbrs and zx6r ooogling my bike paying me compliments. I bought the best 600 and dont see the need to try out other bikes in the same class

Sometimes, I read things on the Internet that just make me shake my head.

Wow, I get other riders checking my bike out all the time! Even guys on the typical R6... That's because most people have no clue wtf my bike is because all of the stock "extra" stuff is no longer on the bike, paint is a one off and there isn't the word Yamaha or FZ6 anywhere on it... It couldn't be that maybe they are just fans of bikes and like to check them out. Just because I stopped to check out my instructors new VFR doesn't mean I'm jealous, it's that I am appreciating the bike.

I'm a big Yamaha guy myself, that's all I've owned lately (2 motocross bikes and my street bike) my best buddy is a dealer so I get bikes and parts for near cost, all our friends are on Yamahas etc. But, there is a list of bikes in my head that if I won the lotto I would be out looking to buy. Triumphs, Ducatis, KTMs, Hondas, Suzukis, Aprilia and even a couple models of Harleys are on my list. Why? Because I'm a full on bike junkie, not so I can have all these bikes to make people jealous.

if i won the lotto i would also buy Triumphs, Ducatis, KTMs, Aprilia and even a couple models of Harleys are on my list. only suzuki would be a busa

Thank you very much for all the comments and insight into how you folks felt the demo tour went. P.S - have appreciated the insights into brands and models - Also, waiting to see if Honda is going to bring around a demo tour but seems unlikely due to all their inventory stocking issues they have encountered since the tsunami over there - Thanks again everyone

Honda held their demo a few weeks before your Suzuki demo (2 or 3 weeks before that). I'd say, in terms of 'the rules', they were as good as Suzuki - allowed people with M2 to ride the sports bikes (well, CBR1000 was at their discretion, but all other bikes including CBR600RR and big cruisers were fair game).
