Yamaha R25 Marketing...

It's great, I'm sure this will really help them break into the 9-12 year old demographic

Wonder if they actually releasing this in North America or only EU, etc. Kills the cbr and ninjas in looks for beginners.

I still prefer the Ninja300. The specs will be almost identical, Yamaha was not going to let Kawasaki have all those sales numbers.

Also, 300s are not necessarily for beginners.

Here's a direct comparison-the two bikes are practically identical.

you are comparing the Indonesian Ninja 250 (they don't sell the 300 variant there) with the R25. North America will be getting a 300cc (rumoured to be 320cc). The Yami 250 is only 4 hp off the Ninja 300 so imagine what the 300 yami will be like.. The Yamaha will beat the Ninja 300 hands down and has better quality parts to boot.

The specs between the 320 and the ninja 300 will be virtually identical. They will have more-or-less the same HP, weight, brakes, etc. I don't see any evidence that one bike will be better than another.

But what about the better quality parts...lol

Are you sure about the identical specs? What if the Yamaha is a 3-cyl engine, a triple?

Hey, I can dream, right?

Hey, I can dream, right?

It's a parallel twin, they are just stroking out the 250 engine, same thing Kawa did.

You will only see 300 triples when people are willing to pay 8 grand for them.

Currently the hp rating on the R25 is 35.5hp, Ninja 300 39hp and the old ninja 250... 26hp.
If they maintain the same ratios the R3 could have easily over 40-45hp.

It cannot go over 40hp -that will affect EEU and British insurance brackets. Besides, hard to see how a ~20% increase in displacement could lead to a ~30% increase in power. The Ninja 250 was only carburated.
The R25 has 21nm of torque, while the Ninja's is 27nm..they will end up the same more or less @320cc. Yamaha has only to match the Ninja and market with MotoGP references since Kawa hasn't been in GP racing for years. The Rossi/Lorenzo effect is huge in Italy and Spain, two huge markets for bikes.
