According to Accuweather:

Increased Risk for Ice Storms in Ontario, Quebec
This coming winter will not be nearly as cold as last winter thanks in part to El Niño.
This should lead to a noticeable difference in heating bills compared to last year.
Unfortunately, the winter pattern will also favor an increased risk of ice storms, especially from eastern Ontario to southern Quebec, including the cities of Ottawa and Montreal.
Much of Ontario, including the lake-effect snow belts will have less snowfall compared to normal, as the main storm track shifts to the south and east during January and February.
As the storm track shifts toward the East Coast later in January and February, there will be an increased risk for significant snowfall events across eastern Quebec, including the Gaspe Peninsula.

Nope, it doesn't change my level of affection for the winter months.

Only if we had a winter like BC does...meaning rain no snow, temps well above 0, and no salters or brine trucks in sight.

Dammit...I really need to move to BC...

When you get there you will find you have described a VERY small part of BC, all in the lower main land or the south island.
There is a reason people come from all over the world to ski in BC.

... but when it DOES snow in Vancouver... LOOK OUT.
When I left Vancouver the city owned two snow plows, that both went the airport when it snowed. Try driving around False Creek in 8 inches of snow. I have.

There's a category 5 hurricane just off the coast of Mexico with sustained winds of 200mph. The largest in a long time. I'd be ******** my pants if I was the captain of a ship in that area. Those living in that area will feel it as well. They say there will be flooding in Texas as well.

I don't think we should complain too much

I don't mind riding in the winter. I'll usually stop when it's sustained at 0*C. I was out today and it was a little nippy at 5* at highway speeds.

As long as no ice I'm good for local rides whenever there is a warm day. This is a very big El Nino so should dish up some warm flows from the south as I had the last few days in Virginia and PA ( 26 and 22 were highs ).
Even coming home through Buffalo was not bad at 11 but then it rained at the border and temps dropped.

It was kinda neat as I rode through all the aspects of autumn from barely turned leaves in the south to brown and bare in north

Indications are this strong El Nino will continue through 2016 so might be some fine southern winds.
What snow there is tho could be heavier than forecast as there is so much moisture in the air from the Gulf. If it hits an intense cold front....time to sit by the fireplace.

Actually going to going to 10 today so think I will take a Forks run if I can extract the CBF from my son's rather clever stuffing of 3 bikes into two spaces.

Went out for a nice ride today. It was 6 degrees when I left and 4 when I got back. Took the opportunity to test out some cold weather gear. Snow pants worked incredibly well. Body armor, hoodie under the leather jacket and good old harness boots. Open faced helmet and a balaclava mask made me look kind of Halloweeny. Could have rode all day, didn't feel any cold and the brilliant colour of the leaves in the fresh air was great. Hoping for a couple more weekends of sunshine before the temps start dropping below freezing.

Just got home, display read -1*C

I might have issues.

Just got home too.
Fingers are a bit cold. But I think it is a "not bad" temperature to ride, provided I was only wearing textile jacket, jeans, leather gloves, leather boots, and full face helmet with shield up.

basically what i was going to say. Some winters it only really just downtown Vancouver that gets little snow. Even going just 1km radius the conditions change. There is a reason most of the hwys outside of Vancouver say mandatory snow tires for cars and chains for trucks after Oct 01. Just watch the TV show, Highway Thru Hell.
And rain gets old after a while. Some times weeks of clouds followed by days with mist /rain / showers / drizzle.
