Hey,

Posted in the introductions, I'm new to the forum .

Turning 20 this September, and have my G2M2 (M1 for a year). Had my G1 for only 3 years, so I can't qualify for Statefarm.

Was informed through GTAMotorcycle last year that my insurance will go down after holding M1 for a year. I've looked at the insurance stickies and called alot of brokers today and got pretty discouraged. I have been getting quotes around $3500 to $4000 for a 1/4 liter bike.

I waited a year to take up the baton and wonder if this year will be the first I can start riding. Does anyone else who have the similar stats can tell me what my options are? Or a phone number I can call? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dennis :p

Why say 1/4 litre bike when you can say 250... The quote sounds about right. I was quoted roughly the same when i first started with jevco but it seems like their rates went up.
Have you tried Desjardins?

$3500 area seems to be a common quote first year starters get but from what the OP says he has had his license for a year already so it should have dropped down by now.

OP: Who have you called and are you sure a full year has passed?

Thought 1/4 liter sounded better  Another member recommend I try desjardins as well. Haven't had the time will call in the morning. Heard something about Intact taking over jevco and their rates were increased? I guess i chose a wrong time to pick up motorcycling.

Called TD to follow up on an online quote that they gave me, which was clarified to be 1000 more than they indicated on the site. Called the number for John Duffy, called Statefarm of which they told me I didn't qualify. I was hoping someone could give me a number, I've been calling random insurance brokers with no luck. When I mention my age, it's as if they don't even want to talk to me :(

Yup took my M1 this week a year ago, and got my M2 a month after.

your main problem is that you do not have your G-class license for 6 years.
thats why you are more expensive, so right now you just have to pay to play unfortunately.
when i first started riding i was 22, i had my G-class for 6 years, i was paying 2000 full coverage on a 250.

maybe try 3rd party liability only for your insurance (not really recommended for new riders)

1. Your g class license has nothing to do with your motorcycle insurance, except in the case of SF.
2. Why is base insurance (no collision) not recommended for a new rider? Chances are you would not claim a single vehicle accident anyways, and a light spill (repair cost) is cheaper than the deductible.

Contacted Desjarins this morning, got 2.8k, and Intact wanted 3k. I guess thats better than the other quotes. Time to start saving!
